The first time I remember seeing Davy.... I really didn't pay all that much attention to him. We were at a family friends party and we didn't interact a whole lot. Then, he left Michigan for a few years and lived in North Dakota. During that time I basically forgot about his existence. A year or so went by, and at the end of 2022, Davy and his family moved back to MI. I remember noticing him more and more as he started showing up at the same things that I would go to, like youth group, retreats, parties, ministry, etc. There was one particular day in the middle of my junior year of high school when I was on the FUEL ministry team at Christ the King. He randomly came up to me and introduced himself, and I was definitely thinking something along the lines of "oh boy, he's cute". Fast forward a few weeks to March, 2023 and we both showed up to a swing dance. He struck up a conversation with me, and we basically talked and danced the whole night. That was when I started to really like him, and I definitely noticed him a heck of a lot more. We liked each other for a really long time and would "coincidentally" go to all the same events and hang out with all the same people. At the beginning of our senior year, it was very clear to both of us that we were perfect for each other. It came to a point where I was just waiting for him to make a move, until FINALLY, in October 2023, he asked me out on a date in our church parking lot. We went on a few dates and were quickly realizing that, we were in fact, perfect for each other. Shortly after that we became official, and the rest is history ;)

Her perspective

My family and I moved back to Michigan from North Dakota towards the end of 2022. I started going to youth group and driving my siblings to FUEL, both of which Raina happened to be a part of. One particular evening in March, I noticed her standing at the "welcome" table at FUEL, waiting to greet all the middle schoolers who came in. I remember thinking "oh my she is very cute". I had seen her before, as she was friends with all of my cousins, but this was when I really started to notice her. I decided to walk up to her and introduce myself. Little did I know that this was my future wife. A few weeks later during a swing dance, I started a conversation with her (as one does). My throat got really dry after about an hour of talking with her, so I left our conversation to go and get a drink of water. However, when I turned around, she had come and got water with me! I was so shocked that such a pretty girl was genuinely interested in what I was saying. I asked her to dance with me and when the night was over I couldn't stop thinking of her. We became great friends and had the same friend groups. That summer I went to Cedar Point with her and some friends, and we just happened to go on all the rides with each other. During the fall of our senior year I invited her to come visit University of Mary in Bismarck, ND with me and my family. After that trip I decided I wanted to get to know her better, and when I asked her out she said "Are you sure?" and then "I've been waiting for you to ask me!" We went on the best first date ever. After one more date I was sure I wanted her to be my girlfriend. So I took her for a walk on Thanksgiving day and asked her and she said "Really? Of course!" Then after 9 wonderful months of dating, I took her to the top of a sand dune on lake Michigan to watch the sunset. While the sun was setting I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. To this she said "Are you pranking me? I would love to marry you!" Now after months of engagement we are even more sure that we want to be with each other for the rest of our lives.
