Once upon a time, a woman named Macy served as the Deaconess of Youth Ministry at her local church in Northern Virginia.
Meanwhile, a man named David pastored another church nearby.
On January 12th, 2024, a mutual friend invited David to visit Macy’s Youth Group in order to meet the lovely Deaconess. Macy, who had returned to Virginia on a red-eye flight the previous night, had no idea David was there for her.
Macy: David is being gracious. I had gotten sick on said work trip and was exhausted and frazzled—albeit happy—this particular Youth Group night.
Seven minutes into their first conversation, Macy’s bright, kind, warm, and intelligent spirit, as well as her obvious love for the Lord… and her lovely blue eyes and fetching smile… had David asking for her number.
Macy: As oblivious as I was to the fact that David came to Youth Group for me, I DID notice his kind and confident spirit, his wit, and his quickness to serve as he helped lead a discussion group and assisted me with moving heavy music equipment (He's REALLY strong).
A few dates later, David asked Macy to be his girlfriend. She said yes.
As David began to enter Macy’s world and meet her people, Macy’s friends, coworkers, church members, pastors, and family members all confirmed what David was seeing: Here, truly, was a woman who feared the Lord. Charming, too. Quite funny, as well. And adorable. Absolutely beautiful. Highly cute. And ridiculously smart.
Macy: David's wonderful qualities include but are not limited to: holy boldness (one must be bold to tell as many dad jokes as he does), endless humility, refreshing honesty, and a silly yet smart sense of humor. He deeply loves his church members, and is deeply loved by them, which told me a lot.
Oh and his eyes. Can't forget those.
Mid-July, David sought the Mount family’s help to plan a surprise proposal for Macy on an upcoming visit to her family’s home. On July 19th, on a flowery hill in Heath, Ohio, David asked Macy to be his bride. She said yes!
Macy: It was perfect.
Macy and David see their story as God’s kind answer to many years of prayers—their own prayers and others’. They are excited beyond belief to enter into the covenant of marriage with one another for the glory of the Lord Jesus.
