We ironically met in the beautiful Jerry Falwell Library at the end of our freshman years. We hung out a little at the end of that year, but other than that, we didn't interact much. Fast forward to the summer after freshman year, where Lauren went to work at Carolina Point Younglife Camp (whoop woop!) and found David's leaf on the wall that he had signed when he was working there the summer before! Lauren facetimed David out of the blue to show him his leaf and say hi, and David, to this day, says that facetime made his whole week and he couldn't stop smiling after we hung up (I reckon he had a crush). After that, we eventually came back to Lynchburg for sophomore year, and on Lauren's beautiful 40 drive across the i40 David texted her a silly little text saying..."Respectfully, I cannot wait to see you and can't wait to raise ruckus and commit tomfoolery with you this semester!" That text was honestly historic and should be printed out because, from the first day of being back in town, we were simply inseparable, and we truly did raise quite a bit of ruckus. David first asked Lauren out at the beginning of October of 2022 where to David's surprise, she said "Yes... but can you wait a little bit." David was a patient king and waited on Lauren for just a little longer so that the timing was right. At the end of that October David and Lauren hiked Sharptop Mountain together for the first time, little did they know just about exactly 2 years later, they would get engaged in the same spot they first sat and took a very iconic hard launch BeReal together. On the drive home from Sharptop Lauren said to David, "Is that date still on the table?" David quickly said yes, and we went on our first official date in the beginning of November 2022. Funny story is that Lauren actually had the Flu on their first date and was kinda dying, but she persevered, and David spent the next week bringing her Gatorade and driving her around to get her a change of scenery from her bed and ochem notes. After a month, on December 3rd, 2022, David and Lauren were officially dating, and the 3rd of every month became our own little holiday for the next 2 years. David asked Lauren to be his girlfriend in a funny, roundabout way, and the very on-brand thing about it was that for dinner that night, we went to Waffle House, and if you know us, you know that is perfection in our minds. Since December 3rd, we have had countless fun adventures, and dating has been the sweetest of times for us both. Ok, but fast forward a year and some change and Lauren and David are hiking Sharptop again on a gorgeous September day, the 7th, to be exact. Lauren had been suspicious that David was trying to propose, but he had boldface lied to her about it earlier in the week, saying, "I am not proposing this weekend," so Lauren was a little bummed hiking up that mountain. We climbed up to our normal spot where we always go to sit, and David asks Lauren to stand so he could take some film pictures of her, so she stands and suspects nothing. As she was looking off into the distance away from David, he was frantically getting the ring box out and trying not to be obvious. Lauren starts to walk back towards him while looking down, and behind the brim of her hat she sees the box in his hand as he starts to get on one knee. Lauren screams, "No way- NO WAYYYY... you lied!" as David is on his knee looking up at her. David gives a sweet little speech as Lauren is absolutely bamboozled and trying to take in everything at once. She obviously says YES and they hug and laugh at how hard he had pranked her and how that morning she had been so annoying about not proposing and little did she know. David and Lauren then drove back to Lynchburg were there friends and family were waiting for them and they celebrated the night with people who love them so much, it was truly the best day ever!
