As the end of the year was slowly approaching, David had convinced Stefanie that he was not planning on proposing until the next year. With the proposal off her mind, Stefanie was just enjoying being at home for Christmas.

After a week of Christmas festivities David suggested they should have a date night to have their favorite meal- Quesabirrias. So on December 26, David took Stefanie out to El Diablo for dinner and told her that he has a fun surprised planned at 6pm. This was not suspicious as David would often have surprise dates planned. As they were leaving the restaurant, David realized he "forgot" the "envelope". Again, not suspicious as David often forgets things. All the while, Stefanie secretly thinks they are going to see Christmas lights. Once back at Stefanie's parent's house, David asked if Stefanie would help find this envelope as he believes he left it in the kitchen. Three margaritas in, and having a jolly good time, Stefanie didn't suspect anything and went inside to retrieve this envelope. As she enters the kitchen, she notices her name is printed on a card with an arrow pointing down the basement stairs. As she opens the door there is a pathway of tea-light candles and rose petals all the way to their TV room. On the TV was "press enter". Stefanie was so surprised by it all, that David had to press enter. Then, a photo slide-show appeared matching up to the lyrics of their favorite song "Sun to Me" by Zach Bryan. When Stefanie saw photos of her family and grandparents she started to tear up. At the end of the slide-show it said:

"Today is St. Stephens day. The day your parents met. The day their love story began. The day that inspired you. On this St. Stephen's day 2024 I would like to propose we make it special for yet another reason."

Then he got down on one knee and asked Stefanie to be his wife in which she said a resounding "YES."
