Our Wedding

David and I matched on a dating app in May of 2022. Dating apps were not ideal for either of us. Honestly, I was not telling people that’s how we met at first; however we would not change it for one moment because it brought us here.Anyway, we messaged back and forth for a few days when David said we should meet. I just got off of working a shift for my internship at the hospital as I was attending Moravian University for my Masters. I didn’t have work the next day so I agreed. We met for drinks at Miller’s Ale House. David was so easy to talk too. We chatted about his job and my schooling, and our families. We even opened up about some deep and personal moments in our lives, which is what led me to agree to this next part.David asked if I wanted to go to a lookout and see the stars. I’m not sure what part of me thought this was a good idea- 1) I just met him 2) it was dark 3) it was late. However, I said yes (I think my roommates are still holding this one over my head- and for good reason- what was I thinking? David and I both agree that we are never letting our children out of our sight when they start dating- or telling them this part of our story).I saw David 3 more times that week. This was the beginning of us. During those first few months of us dating, each time I saw David, I was amazed how genuine he is. What I loved- and still love- most about David is his genuine honesty. He is so honest and upfront about who he is. I still see that genuine honesty, and it is a necessity in our relationship- more than I want to admit because sometimes he is VERY HONEST. David has many qualities that I admire, aside from his honesty, he makes me laugh so hard my stomach hurts. I knew the first night that David was something special. I have seen that over and over again. When he brought me “just because flowers” in graduate school. When he ordered me a ‘mustard seed’ keychain with one of my favorite bible verses on it. When he decided to walk together on this faith journey and learn more about trusting God. When he makes sure his refrigerator has my favorite drink and yogurt for when I come to visit. When he proposed at the same place my parents had their wedding reception, during my favorite month, with a ring that had ‘take the scenic route’ engraved on the inside (David tells me I am his scenic route) . These snip-it’s of David do not even began to show what kind of man he is, and I have the privilege of seeing who he is every day, forever.When putting this write-up together I asked David what his first impression of me was. He said: “My first impression of you was that you looked beautiful with amazing eyes and smile. You were a bubbly ray of sunshine and so kind.” I also asked him to name some memories that stand out to him when he knew his heart was happy. David said the following memories: weekend of my brothers wedding, when we took Carter on a hike for the first time, Easter with his nephew, holidays with my family, New Year’s spent with the Hottinger family, my graduation, and going to Arizona to visit his family. When I was reading this text message he sent me, full of memories, I realized how these memories were full of everything important to me: family, quality time, and each other. That is why I know that God chose David and I to spend the rest of our life together.

Our Story

When you call to book, it is under David and Tori VanBlargan, we have a block of rooms reserved. 

Comfort Inn

There will be a shuttle that will run from: hotel to the church, church to the reception, and reception back to the hotel THE SHUTTLE WILL ARRIVE AT 12 and LEAVE AT 12:15   Please note that there will not be a trip back to the hotel prior to the reception. Please let David or Tori know if you intend to use the shuttle so they are able to get a head count.

Travel

Despite how similar in age Trinity and Tori look, Trinity is Tori's younger sister. Trinity and Tori have shared almost everything; toys, bedroom, bed, clothes, you name it. Trinity will be the first person in the room to make your belly hurt from laughing. She is also one of the smartest people I have ever met. Annoyingly, she is usually right. About everything. She has more creativity in her pinky finger than most people do in their entire body. Together they have witnessed the best and worse moments. No matter what happens in life, Tori knows that because she has a sister, she will always have a friend. She is so glad and blessed to have her standing beside her.

Tori met Amber when she was in middle school and Amber was in high school. Despite the difference in age, they hit it off. They have stayed in touch through Amber going to the Mount and Tori finishing high school. Their friendship only grew from that point. Tori has watched Amber's beautiful family grow and Amber has watched Tori graduate twice and now get married. Amber has  been their every step of the way through most of Tori's life. Amber and Tori have always had this connection of letting each other know they are there even if it’s been months without seeing  one another. They are often sharing their lives over text through photos and synopsis of their weekends. Amber is one of the few people who know almost everything about Tori, and has seen her at her best and worst; and loved her through it all. Amber is the definition of a genuine friend and Tori would not want anyone else beside her on one of her most favorite days.

Tori’s first memory of Ashley is from the fifth grade. Ashley had really long hair which was pulled into a ponytail with a very unique hair clip. Tori told her Ashley that she liked the hair clip and Ashley said “thanks!” Tori is not sure why this is her first memory but it brings a smile. Ashley is one of the funniest and kind hearted people out there. Ashley has always amazed me with her ability to move forward; from whatever life throws at her. Tori thinks everyone’s needs a friend like that. Tori and Ashley have that friendship where one of them says “hey, thinking about you” and it’s as if they are right their together giving one another a hug. That’s been Tori and Ashley's friendship since the 11th grade, and Tori wouldn’t change a thing.
P.S. I have been best friends with Ashley for almost 15 years and I still look on social media of how to spell her last name… Ash I hope this gives you a laugh!

Debbie and Tori have been friends since their majorette days. They were teammates and then coaches. Tori will be the first to say, if you can coach 10+ little girls at 9am in the morning with another person… that’s a friend for life! Debbie and Tori, despite the distance, kept in touch as she lived in California, and even allowed Tori to come visit on spring break where she spent a lot of her time napping-  Debbie never complained. Now that’s a true friend!

Tori and Maggie grew up together. Their families often had monthly gatherings where they would all get together and have so much fun, even if it was just sitting and talking. These gatherings, were the foundation of friendship for the Boland cousins. Tori has watched Maggie grow from the little girl who would hold lizards and frogs into a beautiful woman. Maggie is a hard worker, and will always try, even if she isn’t sure what the outcome is. Tori is beyond proud of the woman Maggie is, and even prouder to say she has a front row seat of her life.

Angie is David’s older sister, and was also his best friend growing up together. They always found a way to entertain each other whether it was at Mom's house playing games or playing jump rope in front of Papou while he was watching the news. Even though they grew up and grew apart geographically, they always stay close with one another. She has always been someone that you can go to get good advice and different perspectives from and will always be someone to tell you what you need to hear.

Alex and Tori were in the same friend group at Bloomsburg University however, at this time they didn’t realize how much they liked each other. To this day Tori is convinced she was the hardest working person on that campus as she managed multiple jobs. Alex and Tori both applied to the same graduate school; Tori accepted and Alex declined the offer. Tori will thank God every day for allowing the University to extend Alex’s offer and change her mind to a yes. Tori and Alex became roommates and that is when Tori gained another best friend. Over the two years of graduate school, Alex and Tori shared in tears, laughter, late nights, wine, and so much more. Alex is a friend for life, and Tori is so grateful college brought them together.

Tori first met Megan in middle school where they bonded over majorettes and snowboarding. If Tori was told then that her friend who was sleeping over would be dating her brother in a few years…. she probably would’ve been weirded out. However life has a funny way of always working out and Tori would not want her brother to marry anyone else!
Megan and Tori have had the best conversations around Tori's parent’s kitchen table, typically late at night and always over a glass of wine or a slushy. God knew Ty needed Megan, and Tori needed a wine buddy (and a friend)!

Amelia, Friend of the Bride 

It all started in elementary school when David met Jason. They would fling matchbox cars from the desk to the halfway across the room. David would also make faces at Jason during story time and make Jason laugh just for Ms. Shay to look over and see him not paying attention. It wasn’t long until David was over at the Hottinger’s every weekend. Jason is someone who you can rely on in any circumstance, good or bad. He will always make an effort for those he cares about. He makes family a priority over everything and will take great strides to hold that value to the highest standard. He is also someone who likes to explore and learn about history, pick up trades, and enjoys making music.

Tyler is Tori’s older brother and will always be the most protective guy that Tori knows (even more so than her Dad!) That is one of the traits Tori loves most about Ty, he will show up and care for anyone and everyone. He has taught more lessons than Tori can count about kindness and being caring, and how both of these makes one respected. Ty isn’t much of a talker, however his silence speaks volumes, and he will always, always show up.

If you were nearby and heard any reference from Borat, that’s where you would find David and Gatsby. They met freshman year and were roommates throughout college. From playing basketball during the day to playing video games until sunrise, they always seemed to have a good time together. Gatsby is the kind of guy that will make you laugh but will also always lend an ear when you need him.

David and AJ met 4 years ago at one of Jason’s poker nights. It didn’t take long for AJ to become a good friend. AJ is someone who will always be down to do any activity we lay in front of him. From riding four- wheelers and shooting guns to bowling, cornhole, and one-armed boxing, AJ enjoys any activity as long as he’s with the right people to enjoy it with.

David and Tony not only met in middle school but also lived right down the road from each other. They would always be doing something whether it was playing games, going on the trampoline, or sledding down the hill at his house. David and Tony always stayed together as they grew older by joining the same sports and enjoying the same hobbies. Tony is the kind of person who will look to help without even having to ask. He is goal oriented and will often take an interest in others and what their goals are. Tony stays busy however he always has time to book a tee time with his friends.

David and Jake, known as Schelly, spent days after high school having fires, setting off fireworks in fields, or just driving around with the windows down. You never quite knew what was in store when you were with Schelly. He takes an interest in having fun and makes sure others enjoy themselves. He is also one of the most naturally athletic people you will ever meet.

David and Andrew, known as Sorey, became good friends during high school wrestling. If there was ever a day that they felt like being lazy during practice, David and Sorey knew to partner up together. Most occasions, Sorey is the voice of reason for his friends. He is a person who is easy to get along with and talk about everyday life. If you ever need someone to show up, Sorey will, with beer.

Lucas and David have been friends since high school but had really started to grow after college. Lucas is a very down to earth person that has a great character who you'd like to surround yourself with. Even in their busy lives both Lucas and David  always try to set up plans to visit one another when they can whether it’s just a relaxing day visit or bar hopping around Philly.
