The weather in February can be chilly, but it's still nice for a peaceful walk along the boardwalk, which stretches for over a mile and features shops, restaurants, and attractions. You can take in the beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean and watch the winter surf as well as take a ride on the SkyWheel offering a ferris wheel perspective view of the coastline.
Known for its stunning sculptures and lush gardens, Brookgreen Gardens is a great place to visit year-round. During the winter months, you can still explore the outdoor garden displays, and they often have special winter events or exhibits. You can also see wildlife at the Lowcountry Zoo.
The Carolina Opry is a legendary live entertainment venue in Myrtle Beach. February usually marks the start of its winter season performances, which feature a variety of musical styles, comedy, and dance. It's a great way to spend an evening indoors while enjoying some top-notch performances.
Myrtle Beach is famous for its golf courses, it is affectionately referred to as "Golfland USA" and although February may be cooler, the courses are usually open for business. If you’re a golfer, this is a great time to play without the summer crowds. Some of the top courses in the area include Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, Tidewater Golf Club, Kings North at Myrtle Beach National, Grand Dunes Resort Club and The Dunes Golf & Beach Club.
This is surprisingly NOT at the beach despite the name but offers a ton of touristy shopping and dining options as well as attractions like escape rooms, jetboat rides, The Hard Rock Cafe, Ripley's Aquarium, WonderWorks and the Hollywood Wax Museum.
This is close to The Market Common and is a nice place to walk along the beach, fish off the dock or take a scenic stroll through the trees. Huntington Beach State Park is also beautiful and further south.
Barefoot Landing is home to unique shops, restaurants, and attractions like the Alligator Adventure Zoo. It’s a lovely upscale area for a winter walk along the boardwalk by the water, with plenty of cozy spots to enjoy a meal or a drink.
The Market Common is further south and where we own our home. It is a great area for dining, shopping, and enjoying a leisurely stroll. It has a more boutique-style vibe, and there are often cozy cafes and restaurants where you can warm up after a walk. The area also has a movie theater if you want to catch a new release and a bowling alley with an arcade.
Tanger Outlets has two locations in Myrtle Beach. One is a 5-minute drive from the reception venue and has higher-end shops while the other is larger and is further west but offers great deals on name-brand clothing, accessories, and home goods. It's an excellent way to spend time while finding a bargain.
While February might not be the best month for swimming, it’s still possible to spot dolphins on a winter cruise! Several tour companies in Myrtle Beach offer dolphin-watching excursions. The cooler weather means fewer tourists, so you'll have a more peaceful experience.
If you're into fishing, February is a good time to go on a winter fishing trip. Local charters offer both inshore and offshore fishing experiences, and you may even catch species like trout, flounder, or red drum.
Myrtle Beach has a growing craft beer and distillery scene, and many local breweries offer tours and tastings. Check out New South Brewing or The Brunswick Brewery to sample some local brews and enjoy a laid-back experience or in our own neighborhood of The Market Common is Tidelands Brewing Co which produces microbrews we can personally attest to the quality of.
