•How they met:
Through a past friend, as mutual guests at a birthday dinner - Years later reconnecting and becoming friends.
•First Official Date:
"Most of our first dates included Aiden, Dave and I. It was just Aiden and I for a long time and Dave was such an amazing sport and man for making Aiden feel included, while trying to get to know his mom." - Sam
"Many of our first dates were simply Sam coming over to watch a movie. Working and going to school at the same time, however, meant she would typically fall asleep before the end of the opening scene." -Dave
•First Official Date (without child):
A day of food and adventure in NYC.
•Proposal - White Memorial Conservation Center:
"We both decided to take the day off to have a little time to hang out, just the two of us. What I thought was going to be a Friday of kayaking and hiking, was actually a day Dave had in the works for quite some time. We started our morning with a walk at the boardwalk. Dave and I began talking about our life together, our love for each other and how much had changed for the better for us. We stopped on the bridge to take in the scenery and he got down on one knee and popped the question! It's safe to say we never got to kayaking that day." - Sam
"The ring was frankly burning a hole in my pocket. I'd had it for about a month and had run through and immediately discounted a number of other plans. The plan seemed perfect, until I tried to hide the ring box in my bathing suit pocket. I somehow had not considered this previously. From loading up the kayaks, through the drive, and as we walked I tried to keep it out of sight, even walking on her right side as we started our hike. I couldn't tell you exactly what I said, but I do recall waiting patiently on one knee as the excitement let it slip her mind that she'd yet to say yes." - Dave
• Our Favorite Memory:
"Before we were dating, Dave would come in to Whole Foods and wander around the bakery until he caught my eye, sometimes asking after the vegan apple pie, other times just to say hi. One of the last times he came to visit was when I realized that there was something deeper in our friendship. I came out of the kitchen because I was being asked after by a customer and when I saw that it was Dave, my heart skipped a beat and I felt myself light up. I knew he was the man that was going to change my life for the better. He has been my number one supporter, friend and rock since day one. I am so excited to continue growing together and to see where this journey takes us.” -Sam
“There were these delicious pies I would get for a while from Whole Foods. They had this crumble on top, and they were also seemingly always sold out. I had a feeling there wouldn’t be any available, and it seemed as good of an excuse as any to interrupt someone I had bit of a crush on at work (because who doesn’t like that?). Luck would have it, there were none. I had looked at the bakery counter as I arrived, but hadn’t seen her. I asked one of the girls behind the counter if she was there, and they went to call her out. I saw her walk past the window and immediately her eyes light up. It was a done deal, and I knew it at that moment, right then she stole my heart.” -Dave
