The "Meet Cute"Our story begins with a match on the dating app, Hinge. David was home from Germany for Christmas, and knowing he’d be back in the States in the fall, he was exploring the market. Amanda was living in the Dallas area, adjusting to a post-covid life, and trying to find love one swipe at a time.After a brief chat on the app, we met for coffee at Mudleaf Coffee in Plano, TX. Soon after, we went on a longer date, and then said our auf wiedersehens. When David returned to Germany, we attempted sixish weeks of Zoom dating--including watching the Secret Life of Walter Mitty and going on a virtual tour of the Van Gogh Museum. Virtual dating was not for us, so we decided to call it quits, but we maintained occasional DM slides. The day David returned from Germany, he called Amanda and asked if he could go with her to get her car serviced at the dealership (a chore she had been dreading). There, we watched daytime T.V. in the lobby with a stranger who was guessing celebrity ages with us. Thus, we started dating. DatingWe had almost been dating a year and a half when (spoiler alert) David proposed to Amanda. That was nearing two and half years since our first coffee. In that time of dating, we found a good rhythm of seeing each other once a week, and then twice a week, and then every-other day, and now nearly daily. Many of our days together include walking Amanda’s corgi, Flynn, testing out new recipes, and watching SNL. Some of our favorite things we’ve done together have been: a trip to Angel Fire, NM, with friends, Joel and Cara; holiday parties with Kevin, Sarah, and the gang; a weekend in Galveston with David’s family; weekly card nights with Katie and Mark; seeing the band, Lake Street Dive; and visiting with each of our families. We look forward to continued adventures together and hope you can join us in November!

We recommend staying in the Rockwall area, which is about 15 minutes from the venue and about 45 minutes from DFW airport. There are a number of good restaurants in Rockwall as well as a nice lakefront area called, The Harbor. If you want to explore downtown Dallas, we recommend the Dallas Museum of Art and the neighboring, Klyde Warren Park. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is really neat and kid-friendly. If you want to pair a happy wedding with a somber excursion, the Sixth Floor Museum is a common attraction. You can also go there to watch tourists almost get run over while they attempt to get pictures at the spot where Kennedy was shot.
