Q + A

What should I wear?

We have been asked by many if there is a dress code or dress "preference". The answer is no. Our desire is that people come dressed in something that they feel makes them look and feel good. Todd (who lives in T-shirts from attended concerts) is wearing a suit. Dawn is wearing a beautiful wedding dress. Please dress in something that makes you feel beautiful or handsome and that you can wear on the dance floor. This is not a black-tie event, but it is celebration and come dressed to celebrate.

Will there be alcohol?

Yes. Kind of. There will be a cash bar available. We are not rich enough to cover some of your tabs

Why is the wedding so early?

Short answer is that the bar hosting the reception has a live band and dancing every weekend. We have to be out of there before that starts. Long answer is that our first choice of venues was Mount Hope (where the Ren Faire is). But, a summer wedding would mean indoors because a wedding dress is hot enough without adding July heat and humidity. We could have afforded their outdoor space, but we could not afford their indoor spaces. As such, we looked elsewhere and the Winner’s Circle is a part of our story, it had a relaxed atmosphere, and is geographically close to the church. It seemed to be the perfect place for our reception.

Are kids invited to the wedding?

Yes. We have people of all ages in our lives and want to celebrate with them. However, we have only invited some of the kids who are in our lives. If we are friends with you, but have not really had any interaction with your kids, then we have only invited you. We are not trying to be exclusive nor make things difficult for families. We just don’t have a lot of money and needed to be strategic about our guest list.

What kind of music can we expect?

Be prepared to hear songs of Jesus changing lives during our marriage ceremony and also songs of country girls shaking various body parts during our reception. If you are not one that professes Jesus to be Lord, our hope is that you can come to our wedding ceremony and see a different side of the church than what you may have been exposed to in the past. If you are one that identifies with the preacher/ dad in Footloose when it comes to music and parties, then our hope is that you can come to our reception with your guard down enough to just have fun. Don’t focus on the lyrics but instead get on the dance floor and let your body move to the music the way that God created it to do. Some may move with more grace than others, but all can dance if they allow themselves to feel the music.

Will you have more dancing than just line dancing?

Probably. But, we both prefer line dancing. Heidi from Dance with Heidi will be our DJ. She is also an instructor. Check our her YouTube page below if you want to learn some of the dances on your own. Or better yet, join us on a Sunday or Thursday at the Winner's Circle and learn in person! https://www.youtube.com/@dancewithheidi9613/featured
