Our Wedding

We met in early 2019 at Indiana Bible College—Maddie was a junior from Maryland, and Dawson had just arrived as a freshman from Louisiana. What started as a simple friendship quickly grew into something more. We spent nearly every day together, going on late-night Sonic runs, showing up to events side by side, and laughing until curfew. Our connection deepened, but in April 2020, COVID changed everything. We were sent home, and suddenly, we were 20 hours apart with no clear plan for the future. Over the next four years, we drifted. We stayed loosely in touch—through church events, group chats, or random encounters—but it seemed like our story had quietly ended. Then in 2023, something unexpected happened. Maddie passed through Shreveport, Dawson’s hometown, and realized feelings she hadn’t fully faced were still there. From that point on, we reconnected—FaceTiming every day and rebuilding what we had from a distance. It wasn’t without its bumps (or breakups), but each step brought us closer to knowing this was the real thing. Now, Maddie lives in Fort Worth and we’re planning our life together in Shreveport. Our story has been anything but ordinary—but it’s been full of purpose, growth, and grace. And we know this is only the beginning.
