A Very New York Love

Picture of A Very New York Love

New York is filled with character and charm, unexpected moments and thrills, chaos and peace. So why would finding love in the city be any different? 💗

In May 2024, Daysi was scrolling through dating apps—not searching for anything in particular but simply going with the flow. She even joined the Looking for Love category with a chuckle, never expecting to find her forever through an app—especially Tinder. But then, a peculiar profile caught her eye. His bio was simple yet intriguing, and soon they matched, exchanged a few messages, and moved the conversation to Instagram—after all, this was a love story of the digital age.

A cute first date was in the works, but fate had its own timing. Daysi impulsively booked a trip to Mexico, delaying their plans. When she returned, their schedules didn’t quite align, but instead of fading out like most app matches, they kept talking. Phone calls replaced missed dates, and the conversation never felt forced.

Finally, in mid-June, they met at Barking Dog on the Upper East Side. In person, the conversation flowed even more naturally, and before the night was over, it was clear—they just clicked. That first week, after they met in person, they couldn’t get enough of each other. Three, maybe four dates in just a few days—park dates with Tohru, playful competition at mini golf, endless laughter at arcades. Every moment felt effortless, like they’d known each other for much longer.

As the months passed, their bond only deepened. Hani had a way of making the world quieter, his presence a source of peace amid the city’s constant noise. He spoke about the future as if it were inevitable, as if he had already written her into his plans. Daysi played it off at first, but deep down, she knew—she was already there too.

Then, in November, life took another unexpected turn. Daysi and her roommate were looking for a new apartment, a routine conversation that led to something much bigger. Somewhere between teasing suggestions and what-if scenarios, a decision was made—Hani would be the new roommate.

Now, every milestone is met with unwavering support, every anxious moment soothed by gentle reassurance. In a city that never stops, they found something rare, something steady.

And that’s the kind of love worth holding onto.
