We are so excited to celebrate this special day with you!
We can't believe we have been together almost 5 years at this point and due to the pandemic, had to reschedule and delay our plans (and hopefully we don't have to do it again!) to have our wedding.
It might not be public knowledge BUT Nathan and I did meet online. A few things were a little nutty about what led up to our meeting:
1. We met on a fairly unknown site called Tinder.
2. Both of us did not willingly sign ourselves up on that site, I was signed up by a few of my friends having just broken up with someone, and Nathan was pressured by friends to put himself on the site. We were BOTH not the types to be on a site such as that.
3. My friends were the ones that officially swiped right on him! (Right? or is it Left?) Nathan had NO info on his profile. (Gasp!) Only a few pictures.
4. Nathan reached out to me through Tinder messages with a quote from The Office. "What would ya say you do here?" and I laughed.
5. Within two days of corresponding on Tinder, Nathan asked to meet me and we set up a date to meet at Pedalers Fork and have a refreshing beverage.
6. I almost didn't go. Hold on! I wasn't going to stand him up. . .but I thought of rescheduling or backing out completely but I would have contacted him. . .geesh.
7. After our first meeting, we haven't not talked a day since. :-)
So, Nathan will tell you that he kind of said them first but in a hidden-in-a-sentence way and in non-verbal ways. Don't worry, non-verbal is G-rated. Nathan used to look at me and give me a long blink. He also used to say things like "I love you kissing me." Which when he first said things like that would make me ponder. . . and he told me there was a reason he wanted to take the picture above in this way. . .but ALAS! It was I who uttered those words first, officially.
I had this urge one day while at work and called him to tell him. I'm glad he didn't answer. Because those words deserve to be said for the first time in person. So that night, as he was making me dinner at his place, I told him I needed to tell him something. I looked at him and said "I love you." But, before the "yuh" in "you" was out, he immediately said he loved me. :-)
Nathan told me for my birthday he and the kids were taking me to Pedalers Fork (where we first met) for brunch with his family. When I walked in, I saw my family too and thought "Wow, he called everyone!" I had NO idea that it was to propose, I just thought he had gotten everyone together for my birthday. As I finished saying my "hellos" to everyone, before I could set my Harry Potter backpack and huge water bottle down or even take off my puffy black ski-like jacket, I turned to see him kneeling. I was very surprised and loved that he planned that day so well and while he told me he was nervous, he never showed it all. In the picture here, we are sitting in the exact seats at the bar that we sat on on our first meeting. :-)
