September of 2014 we, Matthew James Spangler and Deanna Lynn Lindberg both began a response to a call from God to began a journey of transformation with Asbury Theological Seminary. Thus began a season to be equipped for the service and love of others, all whom are valued and loved by God. As we were gaining a grasp of what this call would look like in our own lives, we celebrated all that we were learning at community dinners ( that sometimes would end in just us playing the games still, or a group of us jumping in a church pond at midnight to renew ourselves from a week of hard studies).
We would both be the first ones in chapel each week and after much discussion in the community dinners on how guys and girls discover a common like for one another, we begin to pick up subtle hints of interest from one another. So, after many lunches, dinners and games we began to pursue a closer friendship by walking to chapel each week together at 10:40 am. (Hence why the ceremony will begin in this very chapel at that appointed time to meet once again this time for forever in the aisle.)
After a semester of friendship, and a holiday away we decided we wanted to see each other more. We continued to walk to and attend chapel together, but did so while pursuing a courtship. We had plenty of fun the first semester with our friends and studies but we decided this year we would be real intentional with surrounding ourselves with much wisdom and guidance from those of our faith as we began to seek God whole-heartedly in this relationship.
One year after the official courting began, Matt proposed and we both decided to pursue holiness together as we grow in our love for one another this new year and every year after!
Join us as we embark on this next calling to offer ourselves and our relationship as a whole to God, and each other, for the service and love of others, all for which would not be possible without our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
May God Bless you until we see you again!
