“It all started with a skort at an ‘all-girls' birthday party.” -Sean Harvey, multiple occasions Deanna moved to Carlsbad Village late in July of 2022 having only been there once before. You could say it was on a whim since the only person she knew was a friend of a friend living there at the time. That same week, she accepted an invite to a birthday party of someone she had never met before but decided to get out there and make some new lady friends. Much to her surprise, since she assumed this was an all-girls birthday party, a man walked in with red pants, blue shoes, curly brown hair and the biggest smile ever. Over the course of the next few hours, Deanna and Sean chatted the whole time, naturally already arguing about who the chihuahua in the apartment loved better. After Deanna left the party, Sean couldn’t stop thinking about the girl he had met in the little, denim skort (shorts in the back, skirt in the front).  He texted her a few days later, and she invited him over to her tiny pink apartment. He brought her new favorite food, a California burrito, from his favorite place, Jorge’s. Upon realizing there were potatoes inside instead of french fries, she told him she had had better burritos. She felt so lucky to have made such a nice pal, but he thought for certain they were on a date. Well, it only took spending every day that week together and being totally ignored by the waitstaff at Fresco 264, for her to realize that they were much more than friends. Over the next few months, they became inseparable. They laughed, watched movies, went on wine walks and fell in love more each day. In October of 2022, they decided it was time for Sean to meet Deanna’s mom. They set out on a road trip up the California coast and stopped at random places along the way for wine and weird souvenirs. The last stop before reaching Los Altos was Monterey where they stayed in a cozy bed & breakfast overlooking the bay. They had the most fun time, including a ping pong showdown after dinner, and they knew Monterey would be special place for them always. Soon after, their family became whole with the addition of a squishy cat and chihuahua of their own, so Sean got down on one knee. Deanna was so nervous that she doesn’t remember saying yes but definitely stuck out her hand for the ring (see Sean for video confirmation). Their families joined together to celebrate that night in what was the beginning of something truly wonderful.  Deanna and Sean are so thrilled to celebrate their love with you all in one of their favorite places. May 16th, 2026 will be all the more special because of the endless love and support of friends and family.
