The parish church of San Giorgio dates back to the 13th century and is located in the square of the same name in the center of Varenna . Built on a pre-existing 12th century building and reworked in subsequent periods, it was rediscovered after some restorations in the second half of the 20th century as an example of medieval Lombard architecture . Today it presents a Gothic architectural structure, recognizable above all inside the building divided into three naves with cross vaults.
