Even though they grew up just half an hour away from each other, it wasn't until their freshman year of college that John and Deena met (in Pioneer Hall). At the University of Minnesota, they both became involved with the same christian ministry called Campus Outreach.

Through events and bible studies they began to develop a friendship with each other and other people who are now dear friends (many of whom are in the wedding party). They lived next door to each other for a year and their friendship deepened.

Entering their senior year of college, they moved into separate levels of the same house, and started leading an Underclassmen Bible Study together. After a lot of adventures, pranks, and funny/awkward situations, John asked Deena on a date in October 2014. As their relationship continued, they enjoyed spending time with each other more and more, and fell in love.

On a beautiful Saturday in May, John took Deena on a date to Afton State Park on the banks of the St. Croix River. While there, he stopped at a bridge overlooking a creek and with a ring in hand, went down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. She said yes, after a few minutes of screaming and excitement!

They are beyond excited to spend the rest of their lives together, and to invite family and friends to celebrate with them on December 5th.
