About Deidra Lauren:

Picture of About Deidra Lauren:

Deidra was born on July 21, 1989 in Marietta, GA to her parents, Alan and Linda. She grew up in the dance studio, a hobby she would love to pick up again, and loves the beach, animals, and wine.

About Brandon Scott:

Brandon was born on April 14, 1987 in Norcross, GA to his parents, Ray and Lisa. He grew up playing baseball and wrestling, while also loving the beach, animals, and music.

How we met:

Brandon and I have been together for 5 1/2 years, since he helped me move into the dorms at Georgia College & State University on August 10, 2007. He was the cute frat boy out looking for recruits and girls and I was the new freshman in town. Needless to say, we kind of liked each other and became inseparable within a few months, our anniversary falling on November 8, 2007.

How we got engaged:

In December of 2012, Brandon and I planned our vacation to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for June 2 - 7, 2013. It was going to be our big vacation for the year, following my first busy season as an auditor at Frazier & Deeter. Little did I know, the boy had something up his sleeve... We arrived in Punta Cana on Sunday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. After a 30 – 45 minute bus ride, we pulled up to the resort and it was gorgeous!! Champagne when we walked in the door and the smell of Caribbean air; we were in heaven. The entire resort was open air and flower petals were scattered around the room when we arrived. After unpacking and raiding the open mini-bar, we explored, walked on the beach, grabbed a bite to eat, and made some new friends.

The Day:

The next morning, Brandon woke me up around 8:30 a.m. He seemed anxious and had been awake since 5:00 a.m. … I, being the stupid one, just thought he was super excited to go to the beach. It was one of those perfect mornings. We lazily got ready and lathered up with extreme sunscreen, ate breakfast outside with pineapple mimosas (my new favorite fruity beverage), and cozied up on two chairs right beside a palm tree, not 15 feet from the crystal clear, breaking waves. The view was breathtaking and I could not have been happier, or so I thought.

About 30 minutes later, Brandon decided that he wanted to run up and grab the football from our room. I was browsing through Pinterest on the iPad, enjoying my fruity beverage, and didn't even notice the weird tone in his voice. About 30 minutes later he shows up looking anxious and so freaking weird…I'm thinking, "what is wrong with him!!? We are on vacation! Relax!!" Haha – first words out of his mouth were, "take your hair down…" My response, alongside a bitchy look, "No – I want my hair up, what is it to you?" He answers, "fine, come here. I want to show you something (still acting like a crazy person)." I say okay, he hugs me, and out of the corer of my eye, I see a woman with a camera. She stealthily turns around and starts taking pictures of something else… "That was odd," I think. And then it hits me…OMG no way, no way, no way… He lets go of me, looks me in the eyes and says, "I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" – pulls out the most gorgeous ring I've ever seen, gets down on one knee, and I respond, "Holy SH*T!! Are you kidding me?? AHHHHHHH!" He responds, "you didn't say yes." "YES! YES! YES!!!!" Everyone on the beach starts clapping and I felt like we were in a movie. It was absolutely perfect!

After the shock wore off, we popped a bottle of champagne, and I took a few seconds to look at myself in the mirror (I mean, we were on the beach – no makeup, sweat, crazy salty hair), we took some more pictures with the hotel photographer. Brandon had hired her and I could not have been more pleased with the photos. That moment in our lives will never happen again had she not captured it perfectly!

The rest of the week seemed like it was out of a novel. We were so happy, in paradise, and able to enjoy the first few days of our engagement with just the two of us. It was absolutely perfect and I could not have been more proud of Brandon or to be his future bride! Let the wedding planning begin!
