Delainey & McKinnley

From Friend-Zoned to Forever Partners

August 20th 2018 at the Corban Warrior Classic, McKinnley found the girl he would love for the rest of his life. There were a few obstacles in their way. However after 1 year, two breakups, and 2 denials, Delainey finally gave McKinnley a chance! The two went on their first date on August 22nd 2019 followed by their first kiss later that night. At 12:30am on August 23rd 2019 McKinnley asked Delainey to be his girlfriend. From there the two fell quickly and deeply in love! Spending lots of quality time together on the golf course helping each other grow in their abilities. When COVID hit the two made the best they could out of it. They took this opportunity to spend time as much time as possible to get to know each other’s families, knowing that they would become one family someday soon. During this time of uncertainty, the couple constantly reminded each other to turn to God for comfort. Praying for each other's futures and to have peace in knowing that God's plan perfect. God has since blessed McKinnley, and he is now working as a Junior Loan Partner at Root Mortgage in Clackamas Oregon. McKinnley has been able to work this new and exciting full time job, while also getting his Masters Degree in Business Intelligence and Analytics at Corban University. As for Delainey, she is finishing up her Senior year at Corban University in Salem Oregon, before she pursues her teaching certification, and masters in School Counseling. God has blessed the couple with each other to lean on during all the hardships that will come with the paths they are taking. On August 8 2020, at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond Oregon is where all the fun happened! The couple was on a Patterson family vacation, Delainey thought it was to visit her brother and sister-in-law, but everyone else knew the real reason. While playing putt putt McKinnley asked Delainey to read his putt for him. Delainey quickly responded saying, "No! It is putt putt I am not even reading my own putt!" After blowing him off, Delainey turned around to talk to her mom when McKinnley said, "Will you at least look at my ball marker then?" Delainey turned around to see a wooden ball marker on the ground with the words "Marry Me?" on it. In shock Delainey did not even let McKinnley finish before she said "YES!" The couple is extremely excited to celebrate this exciting time in their lives with their friends and family! They are grateful to everyone who has supported them in their relationship, especially their Heavenly Father for blessing them with one another, and allowed it so they can be #REZFORELIFE
