Love,
Tyler and Delaney
It was May 2017- the week before the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. As so many couples these days, our first hellos were online. Tyler had made it clear on his profile, that if “you could teach me something new,” to message him. So I suggested we go to an archery range.
If you want to get technical, you could say we first met in the Broken Arrow archery range parking lot.
Tyler: “She was wearing a skirt, and had her very own bow. To be honest she was a little bit intimidating, but that was offset by her beautiful smile.”
Delaney: “He said ‘teach me something new.’ Just from looking at his photos, I could tell he would not turn down a challenge. I was so excited when he said ‘let's do it!’, we decided to meet that very next day.”
We had a really special first date. There was a fun restaurant down the street where we went afterward where we ended up talking for hours and playing board games until late.
Over the next week we had two more dates. Rented bikes and explored downtown, went for a hike- to which Mr. Romance brought a couple of cans of red wine- little did Tyler know Delaney hated red wine. Since that date- nearly 3 years ago now- he has successfully converted me.
Delaney: “I knew he was special pretty much right away, especially after he asked permission to hold my hand on our way back to the parking lot after our first date. He was then and has always been since- the perfect gentleman.”
The Proposal
Delaney: “It was a tradition we started the year before, spending my birthday skiing and enjoying each others company up at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. Since my birthday is the day after St. Patrick’s day, that was when we planned to drive up. We planned to do some snowshoeing, maybe explore the hotel a bit, and then have a nice birthday dinner that night. We would ski on my actual birthday. Unbeknownst to him, earlier that week, Tyler had tipped me off that something was up. He’d noticed a week or so before our trip was planned that I had chipped a nail, and he promptly suggested I get it fixed- something he’d never of mentioned if it wasn’t a special occasion.”
Tyler: “You can’t sneak much past Deli! Thankfully she did not let on to me that she knew – that would have been too much pressure. I wanted to ask her while we were out snowshoeing, but it was cold out, so I decided to ask her by the fireplace in the lodge. My voice was wavering, but I managed to ask her. And she said ‘absolutely!’”
