We met in May of 2023 at a soccer game , I remember every moment of that night , I went to go watch my friends play soccer and I almost didn’t make it to the game, I was sitting on the ground watching the game when Eli showed up wearing a poncho, shorts and crocs. I wondered who he was and why he was wearing that outfit combo, once the game was over we ran to my car to show a mutual friend (Cisco) something from my car, of course Eli knows everything and anything about cars and was showing off his knowledge , one thing led to another and we started joking about going to dance at steel creek.
A couple days after I found Eli on instagram and started following him on there, now if you were to ask us who messaged who first I did my digging and found that Eli messaged me first , from that day on we grew with our friendship and talked every day , we went out to the movies as friends with another group of people but we went on our first date as “friends” the week before he left to work in the mid west , I was so sad but I knew I wanted to keep pursuing this “friendship”.
Once he left In August, the first day he was in Minnesota I received a video call from him at 6am (8am mid west time) and we talked for HOURS!!! From that day forward we talked ALL day evey day , we had our FaceTime movie dates , texted all day, but Eli still said we were just “friends”.
I went on a solo trip to Los Angeles the first week of September and I FaceTimed Eli after the Jonas brothers concert and I jokingly not joking told him I was going to go visit him in Iowa he said right away “yes forsure come over here!” So with that I purchased my ticket while we were on the phone and off I went to Iowa
A couple weeks went by and I flew out to Chicago (4 hour plane ride), drove from Chicago to Iowa (4 hours) I was so nervous I was sweating through my shirt I called my friend Kori freaking out because of how nervous I was, her exact words were “wow you must really like this guy cause you never sweat” 😅.
Once I was 10 minutes away from this small town he was living in at the moment it finally sank in what I was getting myself into .
I pulled up to the driveway and all of a sudden Eli comes running out of the house with his arms ready to hug me , he came to the passenger door and got in the car and all of my nerves went away. Right then and there I knew this was the guy that I was going to be with for the rest of my life.
We spent the weekend going from Iowa to Chicago , he took me on a date to watch the US women’s national soccer team (Megan rapinoes last game) play and from there he took me to the airport and that’s where our long distance relationship began! Once I got out of the car and into the airport I cried so much because I didn’t want to leave Eli and all of his love .
He’s my home and my safe place and I can’t wait to share all the worlds experiences with my favorite person in the world as we take on living on the road in the Midwest, we want to thank everyone who is joining us on our wedding day to celebrate our love ❤️
