Our Wedding

In the summer of 2022, Desiree moved from Michigan to California—despite many efforts from her sister Amy, who tried to convince her to move to Tennessee instead.  Six months later, Desiree got a call from Amy, who was bursting with excitement. She told Desiree that she had given her contact information to the P.E. teacher at their work Christmas party. Amy had overheard a conversation and, after learning he was single, jumped in and said, “I have a sister!” Devin replied with a confused, “Okay?” Amy explained there was just one small problem… Desiree lived in California. Devin laughed and said, “What am I supposed to do with her, a Zoom date?”  They joked about how ironic it was—after all the effort Amy made to get Desiree to move to Tennessee, she was now trying to set her up with someone who lived there.  Later that night, while out for a drink, Desiree got curious about this mystery guy. She looked him up on Instagram and decided to send him a message: “Zoom date?” His reply? “When?”  They started texting, and were both surprised at how natural their conversations felt.  Later that month, Desiree flew to Nashville to spend Christmas break with Amy and her family. She and Devin planned to meet for coffee—which turned into golfing, which turned into dinner, which turned into drinks. Just two days later, they celebrated their very first New Year’s Eve together. It was bliss.  When Desiree flew back to San Francisco, she knew it would be the first of many hard airport goodbyes.  A month later, she flew back to Nashville, and the two of them drove to Devin’s home state of Kentucky to spend the weekend with his family. After that trip, Desiree knew—he was going to be her husband one day.  They dated long-distance for a year and had many hard airport goodbyes. At the end of 2023, Desiree quit her job in San Francisco and moved to Tennessee.  One year later, in November 2024, Devin asked Desiree to be his wife.  They are beyond grateful that God used Amy to bring them together—and can’t wait to begin their lives as husband and wife. “What started with a joke turned into the greatest love story either of them could have imagined.”
