<p>Our story began freshman year, when Izaac moved to Baldwin, Wisconsin — Destinee’s hometown. Well… almost. A few years later, we started talking again. And this time, it stuck. Our first official date was at an Italian restaurant in Hudson, Wisconsin. We were nervous, excited, and completely unaware that we were starting something that would last a lifetime. Back in high school, Izaac never missed one of Des’s sporting events. He was her biggest fan — loud enough to make the referees look twice. And Des loved watching Izaac wrestle… mostly from the safety of her eyes half-shut, because watching him wrestle made her way too nervous. She even watched him play a legendary 2½-hour tennis match against our usher, Jamie — and let’s just say, they’ve both come a long way since that epic showdown! Junior year, we were crowned Prom King and Queen — something straight out of a small-town love story that we’ll never forget. And one day after school, when he walked her to her car feeling especially nervous, he reached into his pocket, pulled out a golf ball, and said, “Do you want a golf ball?” Somehow, it worked. (We still have no idea why.) Then senior year rolled around — and Izaac gave Des a promise ring while having dinner at Agave (our wedding caterer… coincidence? We think not). And she remembers thinking, “Woah… okay. This is getting serious now.” Little did we know, it was only the beginning of forever. After high school, we survived 4½ years of long distance — with 10 hours of highway between us. It wasn’t always easy, but it was always worth it. Every drive, every goodbye, every reunion made us realize: we really like each other. Like, a lot. We remember dreaming of the days we would get to be together and counting down the months… the days… until we would see each other for a few short days, until we had to wait months to see each other again. In 2020, we welcomed our golden retriever, Stella, into our lives. She’s been our adventure buddy ever since — traveling to new places, stealing snacks, and making sure our laps are never empty. These days, she’s pretty happy living on an island with Lake Champlain in our backyard. In 2022, we moved to Pocatello, Idaho, embracing a new chapter full of mountains, road trips, and adventures — from Jackson Hole to the Tetons to Yellowstone. Every new place was better because we discovered it together… and because we had each other to laugh with when we got lost. I will never forget the hike in the Tetons around Jenny Lake to Hidden Falls. I thought for sure we were going to die. The trail map made it look like a short walk, but it turned into a 7-mile treacherous uphill trek with no food, no water, no snacks — no nothing — just a whole lot of half a piece of gum to wet the whistle. A piece of gum I found at the bottom of my fanny pack that had nothing but my wallet in it. Really helpful, I know. But at least I shared half of my stick of gum. We encountered a momma grizzly and her cubs, it rained, it started to sleet, and somehow we pushed through. Although our ferry-sneaking plan didn’t work, and we genuinely thought we weren’t going to make it, I couldn’t stop smiling because somehow, every impossible step was worth it — as long as it was with you. I’ve never laughed so hard, or felt so alive, as when we leaned on each other, argued over the map, and somehow made it back together. Somehow, this is one of my favorite memories of us. Then in 2024, we packed up once again and moved cross-country to Vermont, settling on a small island in Grand Isle. Through every move, every unknown, and every new beginning, we kept choosing each other. And somehow, we still enjoy each other’s company most of the time. And in between all of that — the long drives, the cross-country moves, the mountains, the lake views, the laughter, and yes, even the random golf balls — there was September 3, 2023. In Duluth, Minnesota, we said yes to forever. From Prom King and Queen… to a senior-year promise ring… to an engagement ring on the shores of Lake Superior — every step has quietly and faithfully led us here. We started dating as just kids, and along the way we’ve had the privilege of watching each other grow up, chase our dreams, and build the lives we once only talked about. Through every season, we’ve pushed each other, guided each other, and always wanted the very best for one another — even when life felt hard, messy, or hilariously chaotic. By the time we say “I do,” we will have been together almost 11 years. Years filled with growing up, growing together, and building a life that feels steady, joyful, and full of adventure. Through every season, every mile, every version of who we’ve been — one thing has never changed: It was always you. And it always will be. Forever.</p>
