Our Story

Tyler and I first met briefly at a bar with mutual friends. Afterwards we all decided we were in the mood for pizza and headed over to Tylers house. He made us all pizza and asked if I liked pepperoni and I, my picky self, told him no and that I was fine and would eat later. To my surprise he brought me a couple pieces of pizza when it was done with the pepperonis picked off. What a gentleman! We left shortly after to get some sleep for Longtail the next day. Well the next day came and we headed out for Longtail. I got to actually see Tyler more and thought to myself that he was so cute. I definitely did not think he was interested in me whatsoever as he was all over talking to everyone else all over the place. I saw there were jet skis and told my friend that I wanted to go for a ride. We saw Tyler was getting on one and her and her friend told me to go with him and I said absolutely not because he was nuts and would throw me off of it! Well they pushed me to go and to my surprise he was so nice with me on it and made sure I was safe the entire time and did not throw me off! As the day went on I learned Tyler had a cabin super close to where I grew up. He was so surprised and intrigued to hear about where I grew up and that I loved to hunt. Well the day was coming to an end and we all got in the boat and were headed back to the landing. It’s on the ride back when Tyler said that I sounded like a super nice girl and would love to get to know me more. He gave me his phone and said I could put my number in it if I wanted to and felt comfortable. Of course, I did! We talked for weeks and he then invited me to his friends wedding reception (Josh and Abby’s) and when I arrived I found Tyler in a wrestling singlet and thought it was by far the funniest thing ever. I got to meet a bunch of Tylers friends and some family and had the best time. Tyler asked me to slow dance and ended up kissing my forehead and whispered to me that he could see us going really far. Well he could not have been more right! We ended up dating 3 months later, engaged 20 months later and to be married 35 months later! I could not be more thankful to have met such an amazing man. Seriously the absolute love of my life.

The Proposal

(Explained by Destini) The proposal was a complete surprise and I could not be more thankful for that! Tyler and I planned on going up north for the weekend as it was my little brother Colt’s 9th Birthday party. Mom called me during the week to see what else we would be interested in doing over the weekend and asked if we should go check out LaSalle Falls as we haven’t been there in forever and Tyler has never gotten to see it yet. It wasn’t abnormal for our family to go out and do something like this and I was all for it as this is where I took some of my senior pictures and thought Tyler would love it. Fast forward to the weekend and my brothers party was coming to an end. My parents were kind of pushing everyone to leave so we could get going to the falls before it got dark. I didn’t understand what the big rush was because I thought we were going the next day but I just went with it, threw on a sweater and we left. It is about a mile walk to to get to the falls but we finally got there and the view was stunning as always. There are a few different spots to look around so we all were in different places and there was even another family that came and left while we were there. Eventually Tyler told me to come up on the edge with him so we could take a picture. We started talking about how awesome the scenery was and how we love to do this. Tyler even made a comment “we’re going to get to do this for a looooonnnnggggg time”. I was just like yup we are. Then Tyler was fixated on how there was a hole in the big rock/cliff across from us and wouldn’t quit asking me how I thought it got there. He was definitely acting weird but I just continued to look at this hole. At one point I even asked him why he was so engrossed in this hole and he was being so awkward lol. After looking out over the falls for a little bit longer Tyler grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him and had THE biggest smile on his face that I’ve ever seen. He proceeded to say “Well the real reason why we’re here is because I wanted to ask you something”. This is when I went into shock and just continued to tell him “shut up, oh my God, shut up, shut up” and proceeded to cry as I watched him get down on one knee. I looked over at my parents while bawling and asked if he was serious (as they’re photographing everything) and turned to him and said YES right away. Little did I know Tyler asked both my Mom and Dad’s permission about a month earlier and they had this all planned out for me. I am so beyond lucky to have such an amazing man and I honestly cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with such a person.
