Chaos is the general rule when one picks up online dating, but for us, it was the catalyst for God's greatest gift: love.
Our love began on a Christian dating app one week before I, Destiny, planned to delete it altogether. Terrance "Super-liked" me, sending me a blue star on the app, and I was intrigued.
We met up for the first time at a local Starbucks that weekend. Time really flies by when you're having fun, and the joy of that hour was met with too swift an end.
Many dates followed, and many laughs were shared. While dropping me off at home after a trip to the Spanish Monastery, I asked Terrance a question: "What's one activity that you would love to do with your significant other?" It was meant to be light-hearted, and although Terrance needed time to think of an answer, I shared my own.
"I know it's probably cheesy, but I would love to go on a Ferris wheel ride with my person. It seems so romantic."
Terrance appreciated the answer, nodding his head as he dropped me off.
The very next day, he sent me a message with two Ferris wheel locations in South Florida and a message that read, "Which one do you prefer?"
Our next date would be at the Bayside Ferris Wheel in Miami, FL. "Are you ready? I'm so excited!" I was thrilled; Terrance was happy we'd found each other in the throng of people at all.
We moved along in the line to be seated smoothly. Safe. We sat in a pod. Safe. The pod jolted at a start and Terrance was clasping his hands over his thighs with his head facing the floor. Danger. "Are you okay?" His answer made my heart skip a beat.
"It's nothing. I'm just afraid of heights. I want you to enjoy yourself though." And we eventually both enjoyed the clear horizon together, a prelude to the wonderful future God had in store for our relationship.
That day, we committed ourselves to grow together, with a shared vision for marriage. And now, we invite our friends and family to be a close witness to this burgeoning story of God-honoring love as two divinely become one in holy matrimony.
To the start of something beautiful...
