We first crossed paths back in 2022. At the time, Devan had just moved back to Rhode Island and was focusing her attention on her new job and finishing her second master’s degree. We had exchanged numbers and had gone back and forth a few times, but we had never gone out. From there, we kept liking each other's profiles and our conversations would start up again. Fast forward to September 26, 2023, when we finally met! We had our first date at Tavern in the Square in East Greenwich. John showed up in his best Hawaiian shirt, and Devan was impressed by his cool and calm demeanor. We ordered nachos and drank beers, despite Devan ordering Shipyard pumpkin, and John calling it a trash product! Devan’s initial reaction after the first date was, “Why didn’t I go out with this guy earlier?” Needless to say, we hit it off and we have been inseparable ever since. As we were getting to know one another, we both loved how seamlessly our lives meshed together and how well we got along with one another’s friends and families. The proposal happened on October 24, 2024. After having dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, The Shanty.
