Devan + Kynan will exchange vows in an intimate ceremony within Rocky Mountain National Park on July 22nd, 2022. The newlyweds will celebrate with friends and family in Rockford, Illinois on August 12th, 2022

Our Wedding

Devan's Story I was smitten the second I laid eyes on Kynan. It was the beginning of my high school sophomore year. My friends and I were at a good old-fashioned hot tub party. I can still remember the moment Kynan came walking in, it was instant butterflies. He was the hottie new soccer player with really good hair, and I was going to find any excuse to talk to him. His smile lit up the room and all I wanted to do was make him smile again and again and again. We hit it off immediately, or so I thought. But eventually I left the party disappointed when he didn’t ask for my phone number. I absolutely screamed when later that night I got a “hey what’s up” text. He had asked around for my number and that was it for me. He was silly and smart, sweet and sarcastic, compassionate and determined. It didn’t take long for us to become inseparable. Our high school days consisted of soccer games, bucket lists, time capsules, love letters, sneaking out, school dances, park dates and anything else we could think of. We talked as much as we could and found any possible way to spend more time together. All I wanted to do was be around him. Even back then, he felt like home.. One day I was sitting in the bleachers watching one of his soccer games. I don’t know what came over 16-year-old me, but I looked at one of Ky’s friends and said, “I’m going to marry him someday”. I had no idea what it would take for us to get here, but I knew I meant it and I knew it would be worth it. As Kynan’s senior year came to an end, we went our separate ways. But even during our time apart Kynan was always in my life or at least on my mind. Every time I would run into him those high school butterflies would come slamming back. Something always seemed to pull us back to each other. Fast forward four years when I see a handsome and familiar face pop up on an app.&nbsp;&nbsp;Let’s just say that was the best right swipe of my life.&nbsp;We both had personal growing to do, but we decided that no matter what, we were going to do it together. Kynan makes me laugh every single day. We get to be our weirdo selves together and I never feel like I have to be anything less than who I am. He is always down for the random ideas I come up with, even if it may not be his usual idea of fun. Kynan is unlike anyone else I have ever met.&nbsp;He feels deeply and loves fiercely. He is selfless. He gives 100% to everything he does, even if it may seem like something small. He works tirelessly to make sure we achieve the life we want for ourselves. Every morning I wake up grateful to be doing life with him. I have loved him for the last thirteen years and I will love him for all the years to come. I can’t wait to FINALLY call him my husband. Kynan's Story When Devan and I met, we were in high school together. She was this charismatic and outgoing girl with a lot of friends and a giant heart. She was bold, yet sensitive and she carried herself in a way that I had never seen before. I was shy, and I wasn’t naturally outgoing or confident in the way she was. Even though I was terrified to step out of my comfort zone, I decided to try to get her number and see if she would talk to me. We ended up texting and planning a time to meet during school, between class. Despite my awkward and shy ways, she was interested in me, and we were quickly hooked on each other. We would sneak out of our parents' houses at early hours of the morning to freeze together at a park, looking at the stars, counting the minutes we had left and watching them drain like a sand timer. I barely remember my last two years of high school because all I could think about was Devan and how to spend more time with her. Our relationship grew strong and fast, and life was different for me. I was flooded with the feelings of love and infatuation. I could not comprehend how someone could be so soul-grippingly beautiful, and genuinely sweet, and so she consumed my entire existence. Years later, through many learning experiences, we realized that we would do whatever it takes to be together.&nbsp;Devan was in college a couple hours away. I was working, but I did not have much of a future plan for myself, besides hopefully marrying her one day. I would drive to her school to see her as much as I could while she finished the last couple years of her degree, impatiently waiting to finally start our new life together. The only question was where. Devan’s adventurous nature and love of traveling to new places brought many options to the table. We ended up taking a trip to Colorado together to celebrate our dating anniversary, and to see if Colorado could be a home for us, and we fell in love. We moved to our new apartment and were going to do whatever it took to make our dream a reality. I was still struggling to find a career while Devan went back to school to get her Master’s degree. I felt so fortunate to have had such a strong, loving, and encouraging partner during that time of my journey. With Devan’s selfless effort to make our dream happen, I was able to find a career, gain confidence in myself, and grow even more love and admiration for the incredible woman that she is. We have both grown, learned and loved so much. Going through life together has been the absolute pinnacle of my existence. Devan is the light of my life. She is unforgettable and invigorating. She struts through life with a unique and contagious presence that draws people to her. I have loved her since the beginning, and I will love her until the end of time. I am so blessed. My life changed the first time she and I met, and I could not be more excited to spend the rest of time together.&nbsp;

Rocky Mountain National Park is a favorite of ours, but as one of the most visited national parks, be sure to plan ahead! The park has implemented a timed-entry permit system. Slots for July 2022 will open June 1st. You will need to visit their website to secure a reservation to enter the park between 5:00am-6:00pm daily. Please reach out if you need any help booking your reservations or want some hiking recommendations!

Rocky Mountain National Park

Downtown Estes Park has  more than 300 shops that showcase everything from handmade local goods to outdoor gear to good food and drink. It’s a great place to browse for art-lovers, foodies, and craft-beer enthusiasts.  Fall River and the Big Thompson River flow along the backside of Estes Park's main street. The riverwalk is lined with trees, an easy-to-traverse path,  and mural-covered walls painted by local artists.

The marina store rents kayaks, paddle boards, paddle boats, canoes, pontoon boats, bikes, pedal carts, and rods and reels. They also sell fishing supplies, snacks, souvenirs, and State of Colorado fishing licenses! Check out the beaches for a game of horseshoes or volleyball.

The Estes Park Aerial Tramway opened to the public in July, 1955. Since then it has safely carried more than 3 million people to the summit of Prospect Mountain.

The Stanley Hotel is best known for being the inspiration of  Stephen King's bestselling novel, The Shining, and the film that followed. Visiting the hotel is free, but the ghost tours are an additional cost.
