Things to Do

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

1 Schenley Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15213, USA

Built in 1893, the botanical gardens are a great way to explore nature right from Shenley Park, walking distance from Oakland/University of Pittsburgh.

Carnegie Museum of Natural History

4400 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213, USA
(412) 622-3131

This museum holds some of the first whole dinosaur fossils ever found, including the first T-rex. There's a lot more in here than just fossils too.

National Aviary

700 Arch St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, USA
(412) 323-7235

Want to see some birds, or want to feed some penguins? Then the National Aviary is for you! This is a fun activity for an afternoon, and it's close to the North Shore with plenty of food options as well.

Carnegie Science Center

1 Allegheny Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, USA
(412) 237-3400

Great for young kids and kids at heart. There are new interactive exhibits every year, and is great for the whole family.

Duquesne Incline

1197 W Carson St, Pittsburgh, PA 15219, USA
(412) 381-1665

One of the few remaining historic inclines. Park your car at the bottom of the incline, and take a ride up to Mt. Washington. This is easily one of the best viewpoints in Pittsburgh.

Note, they are cash only, ~$2 per person

Local Breweries

Check out a local Pittsburgh brewery! They are spread all over the city, and have various beer and food offerings. Here's a link to a couple of Pittsburgh Best, as well as some of our favorites.

Deer Lakes Park

1090 Baileys Run Rd, Tarentum, PA 15084, USA
(412) 350-4636

Looking to enjoy the outdoors! This park is a short drive from Oakmont and has some nice walking trails and even a disc golf course. A great place for anyone looking to enjoy the beautiful summer days
