Our adventure began in the fall of 2021, when Devin asked Ambyr to take things from online to real life. They quickly bonded over their love of nature, sense of adventure, and of course dogs. They already had look-alike pups, Jack and Hydro, which felt like a sign from the very start.
Their first date was in Liberty, Washington, followed by dinner at the Sunset Café, where Devin was so nervous he ordered his prime rib “over easy” instead of “medium rare.” It became their first shared laugh and the first of many memories to come.
For the next six months they braved long distance love, often meeting halfway in Cle-Elum on Wednesday nights because weekends felt far too long to wait.
After a visit to Republic, Washington, Ambyr fell completely in love, both with Devin and with the place where he was building his dream cabin. She soon joined him in weekend cabin projects, hikes, and endless little adventures.
In February 2022 they welcomed their first puppy, Buddy. By April, they traded city life for an off grid lifestyle, living first in a camper, then the cabin, then a brief stay in Kettle Falls. Eventually they found their hearts firmly rooted in Republic.
They discovered a shared love for waterfalls early in their relationship, with their first one near Carbonado. Since then, they have visited many waterfalls throughout Washington, Oregon, and Canada, always taking a moment to pause together and admire the view.
In 2023 and 2024 they added more dogs (Emmy& Duke) to their family, road tripped across Canada, took their first flight together, enjoyed a family vacation at Shuswap Lake, explored Banff, and celebrated the wedding of Devin’s sister.
In 2025 they rehabilitated a starving stray horse named Gypsy, explored new places in Canada, Devin brought two more dogs home (Hank & Dixie), they visited the Oregon Coast, spent meaningful time with family, and took their biggest adventure yet through Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Arizona.
Ambyr was sure that trip would be the proposal, but the ring did not arrive in time. Once they returned home, Devin rushed to pick it up and proposed at sunset in their backyard in front of their “love tree,” where two trees twist and grow together. Like that tree, they promise to grow side by side, staying connected through all of life’s twists and turns.
No matter where their adventures lead, their hearts feel most at home on their mountain top, embracing each moment as it comes.
