28 Days To Go!

Emily & Devin

Devin and Emily grew up right down the road from one another. Emily and Devin's sister were friends from the time they were young. It wasn’t until high school that Devin and Emily became friends. During the spring of Devin’s senior year, he asked Emily to go to prom with him, of course she said yes! Emily and Devin spent a lot of time together during Devin’s senior year of high school. With Devin going off to college and Emily still being in high school, no relationship came of their high school friendship. In the Spring of Emily’s senior year of high school COVID sent everyone home, including Devin from college. Not long after the world being quarantined, springs work on the farm began for the two of our families. One afternoon Emily was moving vehicles for her dad and Devin was moving fields in the planter. Of course, we met one another on a narrow road. Emily pulled off attempting to give Devin room to get by. In doing so Devin, in the planter, did not think Emily was out of the way. He began giving hand signals, trying to tell Emily to get out of his way. Emily finally caught on and backed up so Devin could get into the field. After this incident, Emily called Devin on the phone and the two of them argued jokingly about who was in who’s way. In the following days the two began snapchatting. A little later that spring while checking fields with her sister and dad, Emily made a group chat named the “Neighbor girlz” which included Emily, her sister Grace, Devin’s sister Brenna and of course Devin. The four began hanging out which consisted of ranger rides and star gazing. As the spring and summer went on Emily and Devin grew closer. Eventually we were going on our own star gazing adventures and trucking trips. When the end of the Summer came, Emily went off to her freshman year of college. Emily and Devin still talked ALL the time, and facetimed on a regular basis. Emily of course, had wanted to be dating this man but was never formally asked. In September Emily had gone home for the weekend, finally on September 20th after Emily made Devin watch the Notebook, Devin finally asked Emily to be his girlfriend! This was only the start of a relationship that would turn into forever. In the four years of dating long distance there were many trips back and forth to Jamestown between both Emily and Devin. Over those four years Devin got the pleasure of supporting Emily through nursing school. Eventually, similar to the start of their dating relationship, Emily began wondering and asking quite often when she could expect a ring. During the last semester of her senior year of college Emily had come home for practicum in Dickinson. The WHOLE time she wondered when she would get a ring. The last weekend before Emily went back to Jamestown to finish out her nursing degree and she was working on a big project for school. Devin had asked Emily to go on a walk, one in which Emily had no interest in going on. After practically begging Emily to come over for a walk she finally did. Thankfully for Devin his sister Brenna accompanied the two on this walk, as Emily was not impressed she had to go on a walk when trying to get this project done. Emily thought this walk would be quick but Devin and Brenna convinced her they HAD to walk up not one but two hills, making Emily even more irritated. When we got to the top of the second hill Devin thought it would be a good idea to make Emily take what she thought was a stupid photo. When Emily turned around Devin was on one knee asking her to marry him. Devin had pulled it off, he surprised the girl who was certain she would know when she was going to get engaged. Seeing as how you are all here reading our story, Emily said YES to the man she thought would never get around to asking her to be his wife. Now here we are getting to watch God's plan for our lives unfold and we couldn’t be more grateful for our story.
