Devin & Spencer

July 10, 2021 • Topsail Beach, NC

Devin and Spencer met during an 8-week program called City Project hosted by Summit Church. Unaware of the existence of one another, they both made the decision to sacrifice their summers for Jesus and participate in the program to deepen their faith and learn how to be on mission daily with Jesus. Throughout the duration of the program, Devin and Spencer were able to meet one another and make several meaningful memories together with the awesome friends that they made that summer. As the summer grew to an end and the fall semester of school came upon them, Spencer began to realize that he had feelings for Devin and wanted to pursue a relationship with her. After a couple of months of hanging out and going on just a single date, Spencer jumped the gun and asked Devin if she wanted to be his girlfriend. The rest is history.

The next three years of college that Devin and Spencer spent together was such a special period of time that they will always cherish. Not only did they get to rush Franklin Street together after winning national championships (GO HEELS), go to several of Devin’s sorority’s formals and semi-formals, and study together for finals, they also got to meet each other’s family and friends. Although there were a few lows here and there, Devin and Spencer experienced many wonderful moments where they grew closer to one another and began to see just how compatible they were.

As 2020 rolled around, Spencer began to think about making plans to propose. He had known for such a long time that she was the one he wanted to spend his life with, and after conversations with friends and family, he began to pursue this next step in their relationship. Keeping in mind how he had previously failed to make certain special moments in their relationship romantic (he introduced himself to her in a gas station and asked her to be his girlfriend at a stoplight outside of his dorm), he chose one of the grandest spots that he could think of – the Biltmore in Asheville, NC. As the moment came and Devin enthusiastically agreed to marry Spencer, they were filled with excitement at what was to come. They were finally engaged.

One of the similarities that Devin and Spencer shared is that they live and breathe summertime, and the summers that they got to share were meaningful to them. For three years of their relationship, Devin served as the Youth Minister at Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel in Topsail, NC. For a majority of the weekends in the summer, Spencer would travel down to visit Devin and enjoy the sun, sand, and sea and also spend time with the wonderful friends and families that she had grown so close to. Because of these weekends and the special memories that we made there, they decided that Topsail was the perfect place for their wedding. Lastly, they would like to thank all who have provided guidance, wisdom, and support for their relationship throughout the years. They look forward to this special day in their lives and the fun memories that they will get to make with those that they love.
