I would also recommend St. Kilda and Bubba for breakfast downtown for a more upscale brunch option. Great places for coffee include Smokey row and Northern Vessel.

Those who know me know that I never give up an opportunity to talk about how cool Iowa is. They also know that I always familiarize myself quite well with the local food scenes in the cities in which I live. I’m a foodie with FOMO (fear of missing out). It seems only right that the “things to do” section of this website is twice the size of all the others.
As we will be busy with other activities for our ✨wedding✨, I have left suggestions below of where to go and what to get at some of my favorite places!

Des Moines Farmer's Market

The Farmer’s market takes over the streets of Des Moines with hundreds of vendors every Saturday Morning! There are countless breakfast choices, coffee, flowers, fresh produce, food trucks, art, and Knick knacks! We love the farmer’s market!

Confluence Brewing

Great beer and outdoor patio just off the bike path! Bikes for rent downtown all around Des Moines if you’re looking for the true Des Moines experience!
Exile is one of our favorite restaurants and breweries! The Hannah Hefeweizen is great and so is the Ruthie! I recommend the truffle fries, burgers, and last but certainly not least, the the chicken bites. Enjoy!
Gray’s Lake is a great place to get out and take a walk and get outside! They have paddle board and other water crafts to rent. Located just outside of downtown on Fleur.

This is an awesome place for breakfast and brisket mac n cheese pizza. You’ll find a unique menu here at the hole in the wall establishment. There is also a rooftop patio that looks out across Des Moines! Don’t forget to pair your eggs benny flight with a Bloody Mary flight!
Mollys cupcakes won cupcake wars and opened up a little shop in the heart of the East Village. This cute little cupcakery is in close proximity to the hotels. My favorites are the peach cobbler cupcake and the crème brûlée cupcake!
