How the Distance Faded Before the Heart's Connection

By mere coincidence, Kevin was on a 6-month work assignment in Maryland, spending time at an old friends house during one of the playoff games. Devon had been working a retail job and slowly was be-friending one of the assistant managers (the "old friends" now wife). Luckily, Devon got invited to watch that same playoff game at the house. This was where we met. St. Patrick's day rolled around and this same group went out for a day-time bar crawl in Baltimore. The first bar we showed up to our friends suddenly both had to use the bathroom and left us alone to start the first round of drinks (we think they were trying to set us up from the start). We had an absolute blast this day, dancing, socializing, and eating good food. Little did we know the unexpected would happen and a pandemic would begin shortly after in March 2020. Places had closed down, Devon was finishing nursing school virtually, and majority of the population was working from home. Luckily that little group of friends continued to have small gatherings at their house (FOLLOWING COVID MADATES OF NO MORE THAN 10 PEOPLE). We grew to enjoy each others company so much that even outside of these gatherings, we would meet for walks, outdoor workouts, and to-go drinks. June of 2020 came and Kevin had to go back to Texas. We were devastated but continued to stay in touch. August rolled around and there was just too much of a connection to let go. Devon made her first trip to San Antonio, Texas in August of 2020. From there dozens of trips followed for another year and a half (yet somehow Devon STILL does not have TSA pre-check). The long distance finally ended in August of 2022 when Devon agreed to move to Wichita, KS with Kevin for his next duty station. The rest was in fact history.

This is probably the closest and most accessible airport. It is about a 40-minute drive from the airport directly to the venue.

Another great option to be close to downtown Escondido (smaller and quieter downtown). We DO NOT have a room block here.

We want to keep the party going after our reception!The reception ends at 10pm, and we are booking a party bus to immediately take a group of guests to Downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter (home to several bars and nightclubs). To ensure fair access to limited seating, reduce last‑minute cancellations, and help toward costs, we’re asking riders to submit a&nbsp;$20 reservation fee per person&nbsp;(Venmo codes below).&nbsp;&nbsp; Additional details:The bus is set to depart from the&nbsp;<a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/At5uboY8Yk1QLeTGA" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">reception/wedding venue</a>&nbsp;at 10:15pm and take us to San Diego's&nbsp;<a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/gdfsLa38o6PisZHo8" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Gaslamp Quarter</a>.The ride will be one-way, so please be sure to plan accordingly.The wedding/reception venue WILL allow guests to leave vehicles in the parking lot over night until 10 am the following morning.Most importantly, if the slots are filled up or the party bus is not your vibe, we would still love for you to meet us out in the&nbsp;<a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/gdfsLa38o6PisZHo8" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Gaslamp Quarter</a>&nbsp;following the reception!We can't wait to see you all at the wedding (and hopefully downtown afterward)! Gaslamp Quarter

There are so MANY MORE things to do in San Diego! Closer to central San Diego it is split into "neighborhoods." These areas are rich in walkable shops, food, drinks, and good views. These include places like little italy, kensington, north park, hillcrest, and university heights. There are additional beaches like Ocean Beach or Pacific Beach that you can enjoy along with the infamous Balboa Park with a botanical garden! Finally make sure you experience at least ONE cali-burrito while you are in town! Our favorite is the Oaxacalifornia burrito--a cali burrito wrapped in a quesadilla! You can get it from La Perla #3, be prepared, its HUGE!
