An Email, an Adventure, & a Proposal- Our Story
How We Met
Every love story has a beginning, and Devon and Margo's started at Kaos Pizzeria, where Margo worked. Margo and Mackenzi had been friends for two years, and through Mackenzi's stories and pictures, Devon had already developed a crush on Margo. Meeting Margo that night sealed the deal. Fate seemed to intervene when Devon attended Margo's "Margo-ing away" party, as she was about to embark on a one-way trip to South America, and believing they'd never see each other again. But Devon, knowing the connection they had was special, wasn't ready to let her go. She wrote Margo an email, hoping to continue developing a relationship. This email sparked a series of exchanges that allowed them to truly connect. Realizing the special connection they shared, Margo cut her trip short, eager to explore a relationship with Devon.
Falling in Love
Our love story truly blossomed as we explored the world together, hand in hand, embracing the thrill of new adventures. From wandering the bustling streets of Bangkok to savoring street food in Vietnam, every trip brought us closer and deepened our connection. Each journey was a testament to our shared curiosity and love for experiencing life to the fullest.
Living abroad in New Zealand and Australia added a unique chapter to our story. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and the laid-back rhythm of island life, we found joy in simple pleasures. Whether we were watching golden sunsets over the ocean or making new friends who became like family, those experiences enriched our relationship and brought us even closer together.
When the world seemed to pause during the pandemic lockdown, our relationship grew even stronger. Together, we turned our home into a sanctuary—learning to cook new recipes, finding creative ways to keep each other entertained, and leaning on one another through the uncertainty. It was during those quiet, unhurried days that we truly understood the strength of our partnership.
Our story took another unforgettable turn when we decided to embrace mountain life in Vail, Colorado. Surrounded by breathtaking views and fresh alpine air, we discovered the beauty of simplicity and the joy of living in the moment. Whether it was snowboarding down snowy slopes, hiking trails that led to hidden vistas, or sharing cozy nights by the fire, every day was an adventure we were lucky to share.
Through every challenge and every triumph, our love has been our guiding light. These experiences have shaped our story and cemented our bond, and we can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes us.
The Proposal
It was one of those moments that perfectly captured the essence of our relationship—playful, heartfelt, and unforgettable. On July 6, 2021 on Isla Holbox in Mexico we walked to the beach to watch the sunset, along with Mackenzi, Sayde and Pilar. Margo asked Devon if she wanted to take some sunset photos, but this made Devon a little suspicious because this was not something Margo would normally initiate. Margo was being adorable and saying how much she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Devon. Devon started laughing, thinking Margo was just being cheesy as usual. But then Devon smiled and said, "I want to spend the rest of my life with you too."
Margo, never one to miss an opportunity, looked Devon in the eye and said, "Yeah? So prove it!" Before Devon could respond, Margo got down on one knee, pulled out a ring, and asked her to marry her as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of gold and pink. Devon finally responded, “Are you serious?!”
Devon, stunned and overjoyed, finally said yes when she had time to process what was happening. To celebrate, we toasted with tequila as the sunset gave way to a starry night, marking the beginning of our forever.
