Our Wedding

Robb and Devon's love story begins where any great twenty-first century love story begins: Hinge. We will spare you the gritty and awkward details of the first messages (mostly because we blocked them out), but what we can tell you is that the conversation was decent enough to warrant a first date. It was February 29th, 2024, when the two met for Ice Cream at a little hole in the wall in Sacramento. Devon was coming off the high of her 29th birthday party (Y2K Themed) and was excited to go on her first date of her 29th year. Now, they don't remember much of their first date, but Devon remembers complimenting his shoes and having to ask him if he wanted her number (a theme of their dating life). The next few weeks were filled with hikes, concerts, and many local adventures. It wasn't long before Robb was making things "official" and conning Devon into doing a Spartan Race. Truthfully, we will never know if they truly fell in love or if Devon just trauma bonded with him after taking herself out on 80% of the obstacles. In all honesty, they just sort of clicked and it felt like they had been together forever within just a few short months. Following in their parent's footsteps, they absolutely rushed in (what is it that they say about fools?) - but hey! so far so good! Just about 6 months after their first date, Robb and Jezebel were moving in and disrupting poor Xena's only child peace. Not 6 months later Devon applied for a job in Monterey simply because she was offered a free coffee if she talked to the recruiter. Turns out, dream job (Natalie will say she manifested this) &amp; thus began the next chapter in their story. Now to set the scene, it's March of 2025 - Robb and Devon are visiting Monterey to do a little house hunting and celebrate her nephew's 3rd birthday. It's officially been one year since their first date and Devon's "one year of dating before he can propose" rule has been met. Robb, an anxious mess, constantly concerned about where his jacket is plans a solo date while they are visiting Monterey (that's suspicious). One awkward interaction after another, he requests to walk down to the beach. Once there and with as few people around as possible, he dropped down on one knee and embarrassed the absolute shit out of Devon by being a big ol' romantic sap. As you likely know, she said yes - then promptly refused to share her engagement with anyone because it wasn't anybody's business. Anyways - if you're reading this I guess we decided to make it your business!

A classic tale of enemies to lovers, Natalie and the Bride met one fateful night in 2014 when Natalie wrote her up for having alcohol in the dorms. Fast forward a semester later and the lame RA that made the bride dump out her clearly delicious and very expensive birthday cake UV vodka actually turned out to be her other half. Now, a decade & so many huge life events later, they are neighbors once again and the single brain cell they share no longer needs to travel so far.

Randeep was also a student in the chem class in which the groom met John, and a participant in Pizza Crew activities. Having taken Randeep on his very first shooting trip, they began further bonding over AC Valhalla which eventually led to a quick jaunt across the sea to Norway. Randeep is a valued member of the inner circle, and very politely checks the groom's harebrained business ideas. It is a welcome rebuttal.

Clinical Psych made them group project partners, Dr. Dyer-Seymour made them co-researchers, fart jokes probably made them best friends. Whether they were always meant to become sisters or being stuck in that tiny research lab gave them reciprocal Stockholm Syndrome, Areli stepped into the role of big sister and always made sure the bride felt like she had family nearby.

John and the groom met one ill-fated day in a community college chemistry class. A couple semesters later they met once more in a physics class, but little known to the groom, John had become the main recruiter of a small group dubbed Pizza Crew. The groom joined and the rest is history. Over the next decade and change, John and the groom went on shooting trips, built a flat-bed for a truck (rest in peace, Pup), assisted in constructing a miniature railroad, and engaged in general tomfoolery. The most lasting impact, of course, is the Harbor Freight bug the groom was infected with.

What's a wedding without a cute little nugget of a ring bearer? Jonah is the bride's sweetest little nephew who is sure to put a smile on your face throughout the entire evening. Though Jonah looks like a cute little kid, don't be mistaken - he's a big guy and he is ready for this responsibility. He has been pumped to walk down the aisle with his Mom and Auntie Devon since Robb proposed on his birthday weekend! Jonah is sure to steal your heart (and probably your cocktail cherries), so be sure to keep a close eye on both during cocktail hour! 
P.S. he's a pro at cheers-ing, so be sure to clink glasses with the little man!

The first (non-related) man to put up with the bride's bullshit for 10+ years, Liebs is the definition of a best friend. Even before moving to California, Liebs was one of the first people the bride talked to at her new home (they have the cringy Facebook messages to prove it, haha). Since freshman year, they have been on many adventures and roasted the shit out of each other every step of the way.

Oh wait, you thought the cuteness ended with Jonah? You are sadly mistaken... keeping the cute party going is his little sister Juniper! Named after her favorite Auntie Devon June, Juniper is the most recent addition to the gang and is beyond excited for the wedding - she heard there'd be cake! Training day in and day out, Juniper is hoping to have her legs in tip top aisle walking shape by April, to bring you the cuteness you deserve. Now, don't be mistaken, as much as she loves her Auntie Devon and Uncle Robb, Juniper is just here for the snacks.

Staying in Monterey

As you may know, Monterey is a very desirable area to visit, which often means staying in the area can be very costly. We are both very grateful to everyone who will be joining us from further away (from Fresno &amp; Sacramento all the way to Virginia)! To allow for our guests to shop around and find the best priced hotel for them, we did not reserve hotel blocks.Luckily, Monterey and the surrounding cities are all very close by! We recommend looking at staying in Seaside or Marina for more budget friendly options!

Budget Friendly Options

Less than a mile from the Venue, this is a perfect Budget Friendly option close to Downtown Monterey. The bride herself has stayed here and would say it's perfectly adequate!

The Stevenson Monterey

Just about 1.5 miles from the Venue, the Mariposa Inn is a middle of the road hotel for the area! Nearby the Del Monte Mall and just a mile or so walk to Downtown, it's a perfect budget friendly option!

A cute boutique hotel smack dab in the middle of Downtown Monterey, while it is a little on the higher end of "budget friendly" it is nearby the venue and the perfect hotel if you are planning on snagging a post party night cap!

A Little Splurge!

1.5 Miles from the venue, this fun and boutique hotel is a unique Monterey stay! Though a little of a splurge, the room prices are fairly reasonable. One fun aspect of the hotel is the rooftop bar - it is open to the public, but a perfect place to grab a drink the night before if you are arriving Friday!

Oh, a girl can dream! If you are looking for a splurge, I can't recommend somewhere more! Located a little more than a mile from the venue, the Portola is a well know hotel in the Monterey Area with a fancy spa and bar!

Oooooh, so you're fancy, fancy! The Monterey Plaza is a little further away from the Venue, but still less than 2 miles away. Nestled into Cannery Row, the Plaza is the perfect place to wake up with a post-wedding hangover and look over the bay!
