B"H

Our story began 30 days before we were conceived…

The Talmud teaches that 30 days before a person is conceived, a heavenly voice (bas kol) announces that this person will marry that person.

What happened to free choice?

Well, G-d takes a soul, divides it in half and sends it down into this world in two different bodies. The journey of our lives sets us on the path to find the person who holds the other half of our soul. It’s up to us to choose who we marry, G-d just helps us find our true ‘soulmate’.

How we met:

A lovely woman, who dedicates much of her life to introducing young couples (shadchan), reached out to our parents suggesting us as a potential match based on our personalities, priorities, values and the Jewish home we both were hoping to build. Our parents reached out to friends, co-workers and others to verify if indeed this was the kind of person we were looking for.

When all lined up, we met, and after a month of dating, we decided we wanted to get married.

How can you make such a momentous decision after only a month of getting to know someone?

Well, it all depends on the kind of dating you do.

The Jewish way of dating is about focused conversations, and lots of them. Doing some enjoyable activities, but mostly conversations to determine whether we enjoy each other’s company, share values and a vision for our future life.

And after many long hours, we decided that this was in fact the person we wanted to build our life together with.

We are so excited to begin our next chapter together, and we hope you’ll join us in celebrating

a ‘great joy for all of the Jewish people’,

the joining of two halves of a soul

and the building of a new ‘home among the people of Israel’ bayit neeman beyisrael,

may it be an ‘everlasting edifice’, a binyan adei ad!
