It all started in 2017. A Halloween party to be exact. The famous Mizzou fraternity, Beta Sig, had rented out a tasteful bar by the name of Roxy’s. Devyn had been informed of the party and found herself on the fence of attending, but ultimately ended up being convinced to tag along by her sorority sisters. Dressed as a ninja, her and her friends head out for the night. The night was full of dancing and fun, but the best had yet to come. By night end, Devyn had gotten introduced to a handsome man dressed in a hot dog costume, enter here: Ryan. The two of them end up officially dating by December 15th of that year.

Luckily for the couple (and you, our guest) the story doesn’t end here. Our main characters of this story find themselves falling in love and finishing out the rest of their time at Mizzou together. These years included many concerts, nights out, dinner dates, late nights at Ellis Library, getting to know each other, and their first trip together: a 9 day road trip through the Utah national parks (a great way to find out they actually do like each other!). I know what you’re thinking, this sounds like a fairytale. And it was! But as you know, all good stories need a little adversity. Ryan being a year older than Devyn, graduated in 2019 and the couple embarked on a long distance relationship.

We’ll fast forward here for you, Devyn and Ryan nailed the long distance. Devyn graduated from Mizzou in 2020 and by this point, Ryan had found himself moved to Chicago. In the midst of Covid, Devyn started the search for a job in Chicago so the two could be reunited. Finally, on September 3rd, 2020, Devyn officially moved!

Our couple has now been living in Chicago for 5 years for Ryan, and 4 years for Devyn. They spent the first two years here living with roommates and making friends, but in the summer of 2022 moved into their first apartment together. A short 3 months later, they adopt their dog, Echo. 2 weeks later, our main characters head out on their first trip abroad, spending 17 days in Italy just the two of them. (Shout out to both their parents for taking on a handful of a puppy for over 2 weeks). The couple is now going on their 3rd year of living together, and Ryan officially asked Devyn to marry him on June 29th, 2024.
