Tim and Dian met in 2021 at the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dian was working on her PhD at Carnegie Mellon University. Because of the pandemic, all of Dian's work was remote, so she decided to move to Seattle with her friend Danli (who will be Dian's maid of honor!). Little did Dian know, she would meet her future husband while on this impromptu trip!
At this time, Tim was getting a master's degree from the University of Tsinghua and the University of Washington. Tim and Dian spent the early months of their relationship enjoying the Seattle outdoors and doing homework together. Now that they have both graduated, they have more time for fun outdoors!
