(Dina) The different journeys J&amp;D took until their paths finally merged were full of twists and turns. Way back when it was 2023, D was living in Ohio again for three years after moving home from Texas, searching for community and pretty much convinced there were no good men left in the world. J had just come back from his one-year deployment in Iraq during his time in the Army and was adjusting to civilian life again with hopes his future wife would walk through the door and sweep him off his feet (okay, D might be exaggerating a little). But she did just that! On her hunt for community with people her age who were also following Jesus, D decided to attend the Young Adults group on Mondays at Willoughby Hills Friends Church. D ventured out to meet a whole new group of people alone and walked through the door that J was waiting to swing open.... But J didn't notice her (how rude of him). (Jonathan): J, still adjusting to civilian life, was eager to continue being involved in the young adult program and stepped into a small leadership position, so he thought it best not to pursue a beautiful maiden such as D. But alas, J &amp; D were but acquaintances, unaware of what God had in store for them in the months to come. He is Risen! Can you guess what day changed everything? You got that right! Easter Sunday, 2024, changed D &amp; J's lives forever. J ended up sitting behind D in service that morning. After service, J started to see D in a new light. Could it be possible? Was this gorgeous, fair maiden the women of his dreams? Could all his prayers over the years possibly be answered in this one moment? Stay tuned to find out... (Dina): That night, J followed D on Instagram and messaged her a week later. As rejection hung in the balance, D replied as J breathed a sigh of relief. After J asked D for her digits, he got up the nerve and asked her to get a cup of Joe at Fiona's in Downtown Willoughby. Little did they know that a cup of coffee would be the start to their forever. Facetimes, concerts, getting lost in the woods, bonding over their love of the show Friends, J's obsession with Carrie underwood, J trying to change D's dislike of country music, D talking too much about the Jonas Brothers, sharing their love for Jesus, and many magical dates later, June 22nd, 2024, came in a blink and J asked D to be his girlfriend. Days led to weeks, and weeks led to months, and before they knew it, J and D found themselves at church again on Easter Sunday, sitting next to each other this time... (Jonathan): J's stomach was in knots, thinking about the question he was going to ask D later that day. A 20 minute drive of small talk, brunch, and walking around the Cleveland art museum skyrocketed his nerves. The cherry blossom trees were in full bloom around Wade Oval on that beautiful afternoon. As D &amp; J were walking around the sun-kissed pond, they stumbled upon a blanket with champagne and a mysterious Easter basket. When D got a closer look, she saw many of her favorite things in it, and a giant pink egg. When she opened up the egg, something shiny was inside: a ring! (Dina): J said a bunch of words (she really blacked out) and D said yes, yes, yes! Afterward, J surprised D with a party with their siblings, parents, and D's nephews to celebrate a beautiful beginning to a lifetime of love together! June 12, 2026, can't come soon enough and we can't wait to celebrate with you all!
