Disa and Levi met on Hinge, the dating app designed to be deleted. Levi doesn't feel comfortable sharing about why he interacted with Disa's profile/he doesn't remember, and Disa liked that Levi “geeked out on science, football, video games, and Harry Potter.” They started chatting through the app (and Disa started falling for him) before having their first date at The Original Pancake House on Oct 10th 2020. Disa was 20 min late, staying true to herself, and fortunately Levi didn’t leave, though he considered it. After brunch they walked around Westlands Park and sat on a small wall keeping the conversation going until dinner time. They shared a delicious meal at Noodles & Co. (one of Disa's faves) before Disa had to leave for her book club, bringing their day long date to an end. One week later Disa asked Levi to be her boyfriend because she wanted to and because it would make it easier to introduce him when they visited the zoo the next day.

Disa fell hard and fast for Levi, knowing that he would be her forever. Levi held tight to his rule that he needed to date someone for at least 2 years before discussing marriage. They visited the zoo, played board games, said goodbye to Disa's soul cat (Leela), got a new kitten (Asher), introduced the new kitten to Levi's cats (Morty & Lucy), visited more zoos, watched RedZone, found their favorite restaurants, hung out with family in Crested Butte, Grand Lake, and Utah, played video games, went to Disney World, visited Florida zoos, moved in together, started paddle boarding, worked on figuring out how to live together, traveled to South Africa, North Carolina, Georgia, and Vancouver Canada (visiting animals/zoos), and spent so many hours on the couch watching shows and movies. All of this and no proposal, though they did have many conversations about their future life together.

After celebrating their 2-year anniversary in Oct 2022, Disa was on the lookout for any great opportunity when Levi might propose. Like when he asked her to take time-off in December, but said it was a secret and refused to give any hints as to what for? Nope - Disa's bestie came out for a surprise visit, and it didn't cross Levi's mind until just before that Disa might think he was planning to propose. Or when they went to Zoo Lights on Disa's birthday, a place she loves during the season she loves? Levi was not going to propose at Disa's place of work or in combination with another holiday or celebration. Holidays passed and time went on without a certain question being popped.

As summer rolled around, Disa had the idea of having a picnic in the park where they had their first date. Levi chimed in that it is a great place to watch the sun set over the mountains. The plan was made, the forecast was checked, and a picnic set backpack was purchased. On June 23rd 2023, they set up their picnic on the wall they once sat on for hours, played some music, drank some wine, and ate all the delicious cheese. Just before sunset they made their way to a west-facing bench, cozied up, and Levi pulled a ring box out of the Triscuit box in which he hid it. He said very lovely things and asked the question Disa had been waiting her whole life to hear. Then she said, "Yes."
