LAKE LOUISE, AB
Lake Louise is one of the most beautiful stops in Canada and where Dominique and Phil got engaged. If you have not been before it is a must see. Please note it is an incredibly busy destination and arriving early is a must.
Please note if you are planning to visit Lake Louise or Morraine Lake these stops are accessed by shuttle which you will have to research and book in advance. Lake Louise has some parking options by the lake but it is VERY limited and expensive. Morraine Lake is accessible by shuttle only. We suggest arranging shuttle services in advance.
Shortly past these destinations is Lake O'Hara which is another stunning spot but also requires a shuttle that needs to be booked in advance.
FIELD, BC
Shortly past the Alberta, British Columbia border you will drive through the small town of Field.
- Takakkaw falls : Just before the town you can turn off toward Takakkaw falls for a stunning waterfall view and many beginner to difficult walking trails. Please note the drive is about a 20 mins detour from Field and involves some narrow switch back roads.
- Emerald Lake : Another incredible lake with prestine waters that is a 10 mins detour from Field. If you arrive early and the lake is not frozen we suggest trying to rent a canoe for a paddle around or walking the trail around the lake.
Golden, BC
After Field, Golden will be your next town. On the way to Golden you can stop at Wapta Falls or roadside trails. Enjoy the scenary through beautiful mountain highways. For more things to do in and around Golden go to the Explore Golden page on our website.
If you plan to enjoy hiking or biking while you are in the Rockies or Golden please make sure to do research beforehand regarding closures, snow pack etc. Many trails in June will still have snow up high so come prepared. **Make sure to carry bear spray and be bear aware as these areas are home to black and grizzly bears along with plenty of other wildlife.
