Phillip Sears - Brother of the Bride
My brother will be walking me down in aisle in our mother's memory. Phillip, is a graduate of Marshall University. Growing up we were polar opposites. We clashed a lot growing up. Him being, more reserved, studious, and introverted. However, as we have gotten older I see him as my closest family member. I love him and though my mom cannot be there I'm so lucky of the man he has become and I am honored to have him walk me down the aisle on June 25th.
Joey and Georgetta Ellis - Father & Mother of the Groom
Joey Ellis, the father of the groom. Joey is a lighthearted and comical father who has been an important force in my life. He has helped me to see the silver lining and his passion for teaching is something that I has shared. Joey is a very active father. He coached me in several sports and undoubtedly gave up hours of free time in order to see his son engaged with the world around him. His willingness to volunteer and step in when no one else would has rubbed off on me. Joey met Georgetta in the late 80s. The combination of feathered hair and mullet soon became the parenting duo that gave the world me. Georgetta is a kind and intelligent woman. I inherited her work ethic and pursuit of knowledge. She is tenacious and dedicated at work and at home. Georgetta has taught me the importance of furthering all my endeavors. She instilled the desire to become more and learn more.
Aishina Shaffer - Maid of Honor
Aishina has been the longest friend Ive ever had. We met in high school in French class over a bag of Skittles and we have been together ever since. Even after we both graduated high school, though we haven't lived in the same city, or even state we have remained sisters. Through many changes in our lives we have remained constant. She is the friend that I can go months without talking to and yet, when we do we always pick up right where we left off. I cannot imagine anyone else standing next to me on this day!
Cayce Murphy - Bridesmaid
Though we went to the same high school and is only a few years younger than me we didn't truly meet and get to know each other until college. When she started the music program at Marshall University we instantly became close. She became my little sister when she decided to join Delta Omicron our professional music fraternity. We have grown side by side for five years and I'm so proud of the woman she has become!
Olivia Hutchinson - Bridesmaid
Olivia and I met in 2015 when she was still in high school. She became one of my best friends very quickly. We connected over music, puppies, family, and travel. She married Josh Hutchinson in 2018 and officially became the first of my friends to marry their life partner. They are a wonderful example of a caring, Holy, equal, and loving marriage. They both are amazing friends to me. I'm so honored for them to share this day with me as I did on their day. In 2021 she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, James Isacc.
Chani Felder - Bridesmaid
What can I say about this girl?! Chani was my first friend in college, who I legit met on the first day! She is a ball of energy and is a the life of the party. College can be a confusing and difficult time. She taught me, by example, to be unapologetically me. Chani holds a degree from Marshall University and loves being an awesome Auntie to her siblings minis. She is artsy, strong, confident, and easy to be around. She is the perfect piece to my Bridal team and I'm so lucky to have her join me on the day!
Matt Cline - Best Man
The birthday sharing, older, slightly less cool brother. Matt and I grew up together for 11 year before the Luke and Jason came barging into the picture. Growing up watching Matt play ball and go after his future gave me a perspective that hard work can pay off. Matt is a wonderful father of 2 great boys. He lives in North Carolina with them and his better half Sherri. We got closer as we got older even with the distance between us. He continues to share his wisdom with me as an older brother and has helped me make sound decisions and get past hard times.
Marshall Tyson - Groomsman and Officiant
Friend, coworker, and former roommate. We have been friends for several years now. Bonding over nightshift and solid senses of humor in the face of life’s struggles, I can honestly call him a true friend. We have always had each other’s backs and will for years to come. Marshall has two handsome boys that have grown up into promising young men. On the day of Marshall will be filling the two roles of groomsman and Officiant. Marshall has been in the front row to watch us grow into our partnership. We are honored for such an amazing man to marry us.
Luke Ellis - Groomsman
Early on I was so much older he was more like a bonus parent. Luke is 11 years younger than me. As Luke has gotten older it has been amazing to see him make and achieve his goals and ambitions. Through out that time I have had the privilege to get to know Luke as the man he is becoming. Luke is attending with his wife Kinsey and his new little boy.
Jason Ellis - Groomsman
Jason is the youngest Ellis and it shows. We have gotten closer as Jason got older. I admires Jason’s even demeanor and laid back approach to life. Jason likes to pretend he’s the athlete in the family, but he knows better. Jason loves to spend his time dominating on the basketball court, eating, and playing video games. I am one of Jason’s biggest fans and love to support him as he finds his talents and his interests in life.
