In April 1980, their paths first crossed at a minor league baseball game in El Paso. Don, on a date with someone else, couldn't help but notice a woman in tight white Vidal Sassoon jeans. Don was captivated by her. Terri, unaware of his gaze, was simply greeting a friend in the parking lot. But as she walked away, Don couldn't take his eyes off of her.
A few weeks later, a Memorial Day picnic to White Sands brought them together for a second encounter. Terri, driving her white Mustang with her baby boy, nearly turned around and went back home after seeing what she thought were two couples standing in the driveway. But after being reassured that she would not be a fifth wheel, she joined the group. Don, eager to make a connection, had brought candy for her son and cleverly turned the little boy to his side, earning a "Dada" in less than an hour. At White Sands, Terri’s attention shifted to Don when he took off his shirt!
As the day unfolded, Don taught Terri how to sand surf, guiding her with his arms wrapped around her for balance. Their chemistry was undeniable. They spent the rest of the day swimming, enjoying a BBQ, and watching the sunset at the drive-in theater, where their first kiss sealed their connection.
The day was filled with laughter, adventure, and growing affection. Terri, drawn to Don's rugged charm, couldn't get enough of him, and by the time they were forced to leave after staying out late, it was clear that their love story had only just begun. The spark that started at the ballgame had now turned into an eternal flame.
