It all began during the beginning-of-the-year fast with her church, HigherD. Donisha was in a season of reflection—learning to trust herself again after a few heartbreaks and deciding to focus on deepening my relationship with God. Choosing singleness for that time turned out to be one of the best decisions Donisha ever made. Those two years were filled with grief, growth, healing, and restoration.
During a month-long fast, she gave up three major things that had been central in her life. That month, Donished cried and prayed countless nights—asking God for peace, for purpose, and for the man He had exclusively for her. And as always, God heard her prayers.
Then came Devon.
We met at the beginning of 2020 on a dating app (shoutout to her bestie, Paisley, for convincing her to try again!). It was right before the world shut down for COVID-19, and somehow, in all the uncertainty, they found exactly what they both needed.
Their first conversation was on February 4, 2020. The two of them didn’t waste any time—Donisha just knew she had to meet this man God sent her way. Their first date was on February 8th at BB’s, and even though she was nervous, it turned into the most beautiful night. Then came Valentine’s Day: their second date, a romantic dinner, her very first bouquet of roses, and a necklace she still cherish.
Just two days later, on February 16th, Devon met her parents—and they loved him instantly! From then on, their days were filled with laughter, dinners, fishing trips, picnics, and church dates (Donisha's favorite).
On April 1, 2020, Devon asked me to be his girlfriend—and from that moment, the rest truly became history. Now, six years later, we’re standing before God and our loved ones, ready to become one.
With love and gratitude,
Mr. & Mrs. Wright
We love you all dearly!
