AIRPORT SHUTTLES, BUS AND CAR RENTAL INFORMATION
Here are some links for airport shuttles from Cancun airport:

Typically, they will stop at a store on the way down so you are able to grab a few drinks for the ride!
Additionally, there is a bus from Cancun to Tulum. It will be approximately $15 if purchased in advance.

If you choose to rent a car, do it through a 3rd party website like expedia, orbitz, etc. DO NOT get the extra insurance online since you will be required to get it once you're in Mexico (so avoid double paying for the insurance).
We will be arriving in Mexico, on Wednesday, January 11th and will be staying until the following Wednesday, the 18th. We rented a house on the beach as a central location and meeting place to hang out. It's right next door to Nueva Vida de Ramiro, the main guest hotel we have blocked out for our party. In the meantime, here is a little info. We can't wait to celebrate with everyone!
Tulum is a very eco-friendly town. Many of the hotels in Tulum's "Zona Hotelera" do not have A/C, however, there is a strong breeze off the ocean, and all of the hotels we've looked at have fans in each room. When you contact the hotel to reserve your room, we encourage you to ask about different amenities- A/C, 24-hour electricity, hair dryers and irons, parking (if needed), etc. At this time, we have negotiated discounts at one hotel, Nueva Vida de Ramiro. We love this property and have stayed in 4 of their rooms in the past. The property, as well as our wedding venue and house, are centrally located to the hotel zone along the beach.
Here is the hotel which offers a discount for our guests:
Hotel Nueva Vida de Ramiro (www.tulumnv.com)
This hotel is categorized as a "low-density, ecological hotel." The property spans 200-300 yards of beautiful beachfront (see pictures below). It has 24 hour electricity but not all of the rooms have A/C. There are 5 rooms that do. They are: #3, #4, #5a, #5b and #6, but we PROMISE that you don't NEED it, especially in January. FYI: You CANNOT use hair dryers or irons at this hotel due to their electrical system... no resistance allowed! There are 30 rooms, all of which are different. Check them out online, as kids are not allowed in some of the rooms (the smaller ones). Each room has 24-hour electricity with outlets, a private bathroom, wifi, and breakfast included in the price. Reserve this hotel by emailing Ricardo at ricardotulum@gmail.com and let him know its for "Dorothy and Brett's Wedding". Please specify which room you'd like (www.tulumnv.com) when you email him. We have negotiated a 5-15% discount based on the number of rooms occupied by our guests. The discount will be given upon check-in, not when you book, so it will be a surprise when you check in! IMPORTANT NOTE: When you go online to review the rooms and book, it will appear as if every room is sold out. This is because we have the entire hotel "blocked-out" from now until June 30th. When you email with Ricardo, he will tell you which rooms are still available. After June 30th, the hotel will release the balance of the unbooked rooms to the general public, and then it is every man for themselves!
Here are some other options in the area that are right near Nueva Vida and on the beach:
Playa Selva- http://www.playaselva.com/index.php/home.html
Playa Mambo- http://www.playamambo.com/
La Zebra-http://www.lazebratulum.com/
Alaya Tulum-http://alayatulum.com/booking-rates/
Ana y Jose- http://www.anayjose.com/
Economical options: Please keep in mind that booking these hotels through 3rd parties may be a little cheaper. We suggest orbitz.com, booking.com or hotels.com. Nueva Vida does not offer rooms on any 3rd party websites. As of today (May 8th), we checked and there are hotels on the beach that are very economical (under $100 a night for those dates), however we don't have any specific ones that we can recommend from experience. NOTE: We would recommend avoiding Parayso Hotel.
Another option is staying at "Aldea Zama" which is a expansive, new development where you can rent private condos. It's just a 10 min drive or cab ride (you can walk or bike as well) from the beach and is a great option if you're looking for more amenities such as A/C, a kitchen and a pool. Airbnb and Homeaway are best for those. NOTE: Aldea Zama is NOT on the beach.
Finally if you want to stay in the puebla town of Tulum (not on the beach), there are some nice hotels and apartments which you can easily book through hotels.com or orbitz.com.
We also encourage you to check out the following websites for different options:
