Our Wedding

We both had been on dating websites for awhile and were on the brink of giving up. It's funny now when we think about it because neither one of us were in each others designated age brackets. One day I (Kim) was scrolling through and I came across this really attractive bearded man, so I clicked his profile. The quality that caught my attention among others was his love for the CAROLINA TAR HEELS. All I messaged was "How about them Heels" and it was a done deal. Just kidding. We talked for about a month before going on our first date. When it came to that first date we both showed up at the exact same time, which is a miracle because I (Dusty) am always on time and Kim not so much. We were both nervous and I (Kim) must talk louder when nervous because Dusty commented on how loud I was, but we hit it off enough to where he asked to take me on a drive around Goldsboro since I wasn't from there. We ended up at my (Dusty's) favorite park and watched the sunset over the river and I knew then that I had caught this beautiful woman's attention. That was just the beginning of our many mini adventures together. We both love spending time outdoors, visiting new places, and window shopping. We have introduced each other to our nerdy hobbies and look forward to sharing ones together. But one of my (Kim's) favorite things to do together is spending time worshiping the Lord and seeing the evidence of God's hand crafting us together.

What started it all...

So our engagement story is not one of much excitement, but still quite funny. We had planned to take my (Kim's) niece and nephew to a pumpkin patch in Raleigh on Saturday. Dusty usually works late Friday nights but got off early so we headed to Raleigh. We made a stop at Kim's good friends the Springer's but then were on our way to her parents house. We made small talk with the parents before it was time to get some sleep. I (Kim) was done after having a pretty tough week at school. I was taking my earrings off before bed and as I turned around Dusty is on one knee with a stunning ring in hand. The first thing our of my mouth was "Are you kidding!!!" and he gave me the "woman why would I be on my knees if I was kidding" look. I was so shocked and stunned that I had no words after that. I even gave him the wrong hand to which he pushed it aside and grabbed my left to put the ring on. She doesn't really remember this part but, I (Dusty) asked her to marry me. I (Kim) looked at the beautiful simple understated ring he had so carefully chosen for me and shook my head yes, I'm not sure if the actual words came out. Then we shared the news with everyone. So the pictures floating around Facebook at the pumpkin patch, totally a fake out, just for fun.

The man that raised me,my father, has taught me a lot about life.  He has been there with me through everything. I consider him to be not only my Father but my best friend. I  am so honored to have standing beside me as my Best Man.

My tell it to me straight friend. I had the chance of getting to know Melia through IDC, a church I attended while living in Raleigh. We were in the same small group, but beyond that kindred spirits. Much like old friend we can catch up like we never missed a beat. She is not afraid to ask the tough questions and I very much appreciate that. I am beyond blessed to be able to call you friend.
