Where is the venue?
Both the ceremony and reception will be held inside the nature center at Charles Alley Nature Park which is located about 45min southeast from the airport in Columbus (CMH). When you turn into the main entrance, you will want to take the first left to drive up past the lake and park in the gravel lot outside the nature center. If weather permits, we will be asking everyone to join us outside for a large group photo following the ceremony. Also, the nature park has several miles of beautiful Ohio trails that we encourage you to enjoy with the other guests during your stay!
What is the appropriate attire?
The venue has a fancy wooden floor that they want to protect from being scuffed by guests' footwear of choice. Please check your shoes to make sure they lack any metal ornamentation that might scratch a floor. Ladies, please leave the stilettos (anything larger than a 1-inch square pad is OK!). Gents, you'll have to shelve the cowboy boots. To our understanding, 10-gallon hats are no problem.
Our wedding party will be enjoying comfortable formalwear, and we encourage you to do the same. We are expecting to see a lot of slacks & spring colors, and not so many ties, but we encourage you to make this as fancy an occasion as you want to!
What's for dinner?
We will be serving food from Wild Ginger Asian Bistro, a local family-owned restaurant. There will be gluten-free and vegetarian options. We will be serving a variety of non-alcoholic cold and hot drinks.
Will there be alcohol?
Our venue has a no alcohol policy and we expect to have quite a few children in attendance, so no alcohol will be served at the wedding. Pre-gaming/flasks are not our concern - we have full trust that those who partake will do so responsibly!
What is the "Easter Service"?
The couple's faith continues to be the foundation and most exciting growth area in their relationship. We want this to be a chance to share extra time with family and friends and give thanks with joy for the lives we have been blessed with. We will meet on Sunday morning in an intimate setting at a small cabin (outdoors if the weather permits!), and Dylan's college roommate, Aaron Mehner, will share a Christian Easter message, preceded by a brief period of worship through song. The service will last approximately 30-45 minutes with some socializing afterwards.
How religious is the wedding?
More and more, quirky couples choose eccentric "wedding themes" like Halloween, Hollywood, or Lord of the Rings. Similarly, we have designed our wedding to reflect what brings us the most joy. There will be prayer, worship, and general carrying-on about God during the service because of our love of him as well as the impact he's had on the growth of our relationship and our future commitment to one another. We aim to be personal and transparent, with you as our witnesses, however express or implied participation in any part of the service is completely your choice! Even if our words do not hit home for you, we ask for your good-natured tolerance... as if we were sharing Lord of the Rings monologues at the altar. We are so grateful that you're joining us in celebration.
