Our Story

Dylan's Point of View

It all started in kindergarten with Nellie. I wanted nothing to do with her from the start, which sounds awful in retrospect I know, but I was 6. She would take my shoes and make me chase her to get them back, and by that point, I was just tired of it. So logically I told the teacher and she got mad at me for snitching but I was annoyed. And this cycle of her liking me and me not liking her continued until 6th grade.

One day at recess I sat on the benches and started drawing just random things. By now this was middle school. This day she was across from me. I don't remember how it happened but we started to talk. We started to talk a lot. Not just that day, but many more. We started to text one another. And I remember asking her to go to the movies one day.

I think it took us close to 1-2 years to get to see a movie, but it did eventually happen. Things just kept going from there with school dances, visits to the zoo, and so much more.

We became so close and I knew that I was falling for her. Even when I said I love you to her I knew I cared. Not just empty words that lose meaning each time you throw them out. I was in love with her.

So I asked her. It took so much time and me promising I wanted her in my life forever, I just needed to wait for the right time. 10 Years may have felt like forever, but since I plan to spend that with her, I didn't mind the wait. I had a whole speech planned but she didn't let me say a word before she said yes. And everything left my head. Anything I wanted to say left me, but it didn't matter. I was happy. She makes me happy. And I can't wait for that to be my forever.

Nellies point of view

Dylan and I shared the same classes in kindergarten. He had his friends and I had mine. We eventually became good friends in middle school. He and his friends would always chug a carton of milk at lunch and every day I would call the winner. Dylan and I would text all the time outside of school.

We would play 20 questions but we would always end up going over the 20 questions. We were playing the game one day and he had asked me to be his girlfriend. And then I said yes. When we were in high school he would come to some football games, but not to watch the sport, instead to watch me in band.

When we went out for our anniversary to celebrate we went to Applebee's since it's where I wanted to go. After he asked if I wanted icecream and then we went to gypsy Joe’s and got ice cream. He told me he was sorry he didn't have the money to propose yet, and I said it was okay, we had time. After that we went to Rising Park and we went for a walk. I swore he was acting nervous like something was wrong. Eventually, I was like "Are you okay? You pinky promise, no black magic." Then he was like "What do you mean no black magic?" I explained to him that it meant there were no lies and nothing was wrong. And he swore.

We then walked to the shelter house on top of the hill and we were taking pictures. Then he dropped to his knees and asked if I would marry him. I said yes.
