Dylan and Katie Ann's first encounter with each other was at the First Baptist Church in Martin's College Ministries back-to-school bash. Dylan and Katie Ann talked a bit, but nothing ever came from it since neither of them pursued a friendship afterward.

After a semester of quick glances back and forth and hearing of each other from friends, Katie Ann and Dylan happened to strike up a conversation at what used to be Gregory Forrester's apartment for a game night with friends. The two went from talking across the room to sitting beside each other all night. After that night, the two began messaging each other and talking every day.

One day, the Lord told Katie Ann to have a conversation with Dylan, and they went for a drive. They drove and talked for hours about their past and what God had shown them. They were honest and vulnerable; Katie Ann and Dylan prayed for a relationship full of honesty, trust, and accountability. Dylan knew then he needed to ask Katie Ann to be his girlfriend. He decided to drive to the Baptist Collegiate Ministry on campus and take Katie Ann out of the car. He left the door open while his car played "Put Your Head On My Shoulder" by Paul Anka. He stood there holding her hands and began to tell her how much he admired her, how much he had prayed for someone like her to come into his life, that she would always come second to God in his life, and that he had never dated anyone because he knew that once he did, it was with the intention of marriage in the future. He then asked if she would like to be his girlfriend, and she said of course. They then spent the remainder of the song slow-dancing in the parking lot.

After a snowstorm Dylan and Katie Ann decided it was time they went on a official date together. Dylan planned five events, and he surprised Katie Ann with their plans. First, they went to his church in Milan, TN, where she met his whole church. They then had lunch with his family and hung out with them before their date. They went to Red Lobster, Target, Crumble Cookie, danced in a parking lot, and Dylan gave Katie Ann a letter full of sweet words and promises that have never been broken.

From there, their relationship grew, and they went on their first mission trip together and also where they told each other I love you for the first time.

Dylan graduated college, which caused the two to live in different towns.

They went on their first beach trip together with Dylan's family.

Katie Ann left for a month for a travel study to France, and Dylan had surprised her at the airport in Nashville when she landed! Little did she know he had been preparing the proposal and showed the family the ring when it came in.

Then the day came. Dylan had Katie Ann's whole family lie to her and had her get her nails and dress nicely without her realizing she was getting engaged. Dylan planned for both of their family members who could come to hide and booked a photographer to capture the sweet moment. It was a lovely and private celebration, and the couple couldn't be happier with how everything turned out!
