Back in October ‘19 Dylan was stationed in Goose Creek, SC and Sarah was 2 hours away in Bluffton, SC.
Like a lot of modern love stories, Dylan and Sarah met on a dating app called Hinge. They talked on the phone / facetimed for the first few nights, you know just to make sure the other person wasn’t a catfish, and what really drew them closer was their liking of someone they watched on YouTube. They decided to meet for the first time Monday, October 14, and Dylan drove 2 hours to Sarah’s house (which they acknowledge in hindsight was a dumb idea, but hey we’re here!) and they spent hours just talking on the couch and jamming out to music they both liked. That Wednesday, Sarah drove up to Goose Creek to meet Dylan, from there he took her to the Charleston Pier (near the pineapple fountain for you locals) and there they laid on a bench watching the stars and got to know each other a little bit more.
On December 11, 2019, Dylan snuck into Sarah’s house while she was at work and set up a trail of rose petals and tea candle lights that led to her room here there was a box with a note and a claddagh ring in it. The note saying “Will you be my girlfriend?”
In August of 2022, Dylan and Sarah took a road trip down from Bremerton, Washington to Big Sur / Monterey, California. On the morning of the 25th, Dylan took Sarah to a sunrise picnic on a cliff that over looked the ocean. On the way there Sarah could see that Dylan was being over analytical about, what seemed, silly things, such as the weather, the time, and even where the sun was going to come out from! The couple sat on the rugs, popped champagne, and took some pictures. Little did Sarah know that was when he got down on one knee and popped the question!
Life and the military have brought the couple all over the place but Dylan and Sarah would be honored if all our invited family and friends could attend our celebration of love, in Florham Park, NJ, Sunday May 12, 2024.
