The day after Christmas in 2018, I (Ebony) was bored, and Derrick had been stood up, so we decided to meet with our friends at a lounge in Lanham Maryland. We had no idea that our friends were looking to hook us up, but somehow we ended up sitting right beside each other. Before the night was over our friends were encouraging us to exchange numbers and daring Derrick to give me a kiss. After a few group dates, we knew we were meant for each other!

I proposed while we were vacationing in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands (we visit a beach every time we're on vacation, we are beach people! ) The 2nd day on a beautiful beach, while waiting for the waitress to bring us our food we were talking about how we always have a such a good time on vacation. She was looking around and when she turned around I was on my knee with an open box and ring in hand. I began by saying “I want to make this official....” but all I got was a blank stare and a repeated question. It was the RING! She kept asking “Is this for me? Can I take it?” and I said "yes", with a smile. I put it on her finger and she began the hugging and kissing . However she never answered the question, so I waited until she noticed that I was waiting for something. " I didn't answer did I? " she asked”, "is that what you were waiting for?" I nodded "yes". She later told me that she had never even heard me ask the question. Hilarious!
